how often does your droid reset?

Well, my first one worked flawlessly for 6 days...but just had a bad battery. So I took it back thinking I'd get just the battery replaced, they said they couldn't replace just hte battery in the first 30 days...got a new phone, its been 48 hours and its reset randomly 4 times, force quits out of applications MUCH more frequently. Frustrating

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I exchanged my phone on Monday and since then no resets at all. The store didn't want to exchange but thankfully verizon had sent me 2 and they allowed me to just swap them out

This one seemed to be losing 3g connection all the time but someone in the forums suggested a *228 and it fixed the problem

No resets for me and I purposely tried to open every application I have to see what would happen. So far, rock solid as far as I can tell.

0 resets, uptime currently at 141 hours. That is since I did a battery pull last week to test the car-home/media dock bug. The only other time I pulled the battery was to check the build date.

my first day one droid reset alllll the time. at least 5 times per day twidget crashed constantly and wouldnt work most of the time. and when it froze then reset during txting i had enough and took it in and they exchanged it no problem. new one has NEVER reset and its been about a couple weeks now. id say you have a defective one.

Mine was fine for the first week and a half, but last night it just randomly turned off on it's own and wouldn't turn back on. I pulled the battery and put it back in, then it started up. It's reset at least once since then. Hope I don't have to replace the thing...

Mine reset non stop until I fully charged it but it still resets every couple of hours of use. I keep killing apps so as not to use all the mem. Want to see if this is normal.

Has not reset on me once yet. I have a 39/09 from release day. If yours is resetting on its own then it seems the consensus is you have a bad unit and should replace it.

My original Droid was a 41/09 and worked flawlessly until last night I noticed a stuck pixel on the screen. Exchanged it last night at 7pm and got another 41/09 the highest they had and sure enough the damn thing reset 10 or more times before i went in at 10am this morning and exchanged it again for another 41/09 and this one has been running well since 10am. So it seems the reseting is a random flaw. Crossing my fingers.

I've had four Doids due to exchanges...only one reset (the third one), and it did so repeatedly.

As noted, spontaneous resets are not normal.

I've had approximately 5 resets a day since I've had the phone. I went into my local verizon store today to exchange it and they wouldn't do it. They told me that I was causing it by not running a task killer app. After I told them I had been even though it shouldn't be necessary they still told me tough luck because I couldn't duplicate it in front of them. What's my next best step?

I just got back from the store, so hopefully i can help with this one. What happened with my phone is that I swapped my phone on monday because of a mediocre battery, i just wanted a battery, but they said they had to do the whole phone because it was within 30 days. My new phone had a ton of issues with resetting. It reset 12 times in 2.5 days, so after calling 611 and doing their trouble shooting (which also helped as far as recording that Ive been doing steps) I had them write down that I was doing these resets, cause it was the only phone i had, so i said note it on the account and i'll call back if the factory reset etc doesn't work. So i went into the store again by the recommendation of phone customer service, and I had a similar situation.
So i was really friendly, talked to the tech service lady for awhile, she gave me the same talk about task killer etc etc. I told her i killed running services all the time, and that the phone by default of android doesn't keep everything running like blackberry. So we talked, i was polite about it, I could see she was trying to get it to reset. She got it to lag pretty bad twice, but no resets. So i said let me try, i did a lot of stuff, couldn't get it to reset. (i mean come on, it does it for 30 seconds 4 times a day, and you have to recreate it on the spot there?) so I said, well ok, what are my options here? And she said its under the worry free guarantee, so if you really feel more comfortable with it being replaced, we can replace it. And i told her, my old droid which i had for a week never ever reset, and i did all the same things and used it the same way, and never had one issue aside from battery life so i definitely would feel more comfortable replacing it. She transferred me to customer service and they replaced it right away. It's within 30 days, you have the right. Say it happens all the time, its completely random, and you'd feel much more comfortable with a new device. Emphasize that you're just really disappointed and frustrated with the phone. Worst come to worst, say fine, if you won't replace it, I would like to return it. After 3-4 days the upgrade should reset, and you can go back anytime after that and buy the phone as if it was new again. Or maybe even wait a few weeks or month for all those last kinks to be worked out.

Good luck!

P.s. you can also go into the market place, and start downloading EVERY Free app continuously right in front of them. i just re-downloaded 50 apps on my new phone... I thought man this must really be stressed right now. They're downloading back to back to back. If it were true that doing a lot would crash it, i would think that would. If not, just start opening and doing everything you can on the phone and show them that it is NOT shutting down. Its just random reset.

i had the same issue with the random reboots. took it to the verizon store, they did a factory reset. wouldnt give me a new one because they didnt see it reboot. so of course, the phone never stopped rebooting after i left. took it back to the same store a week later and they replaced it...

i had to get the phone to freeze (another issue i was having) and just not do a battery pull or anything. once they saw it like that, they replaced it. but my advice is to be persistent. too many people are having these issues for the people at the store to ignore it. maybe try to call verizon and get a replacement that way. that may be worth a shot...

fyi, i have had no issues with the new phone...

I tried to do this, and while they were prepared to do it, the guy that I talked to (third one, since i called twice before and did the troubleshooting they told me to do so they could record it) he said listen its gonna be much better for you if you go to the store. the phone's so new there really aren't any software updates so us sending you a refurbished unit as replacement isn't gonna do you much, and also if you ship it from here, it voids the 30 day worry free guarantee, but if the store swaps it out its still under the worry free. He told me he wanted me to just get the most for my money and might as well get a new one out of the box. I'd have to agree!
