Root How reliable is auto_root/one click root?

Like a lot of Tbolt users, I don't feel comfortable with the adb coding enough to manually root. I've heard a lot of good things about the auto_root process over on the xda forums, but just wanted to see if anyone has any advice from experience. I also ask because I know people recommend doing it the manual root, but I'm just not ready to do that.

So opinions on the auto_root process would be appreciated.

Thanks

I used the auto root and while it was much easier, for me, it wasn't 100% perfect. I had to run each step numerous times for it to "take". I also had issues with root apps after I ran it, but a few reboots after clearing cache in ROM Manager all was good.

You realize the "adb coding" you're speaking of involves you copy & pasting commands in order from a very well written guide, yes? You don't actually have to know anything.

Honestly, if you're afraid of adb, it might not be a good idea to root.

Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Last I heard nobody has reported bricking their phone with the auto-root; so whether or not you have success with it, at least you won't screw up anything.

I just did it last night. It was extremely pain free. Just make sure you follow the directions exactly each time. It ran perfect for me, first time, everything took.

Auto root (and unroot) by DroidXcon worked beautifully. Truly almost as easy as Unrevoked was for the Incredible. Took about 20-25 minutes. I'm no genius and it was ridiculously easy.

I think I remember seeing "just follow the prompts" what are those prompts. I guess I thought this was more "one touch" than it's sounding?

Yes, I understand, but I work 11 hour shifts and if there is a one click root that will save time, I'd like to use that route if that's okay with you. ;)

Anyway thanks for the insight everyone, gonna check it out more when I get home from work.

[Updated: 3/26]Easyroot + S-Off [Version 1.6.3.11] - xda-developers

Thats what I used, and I can tell you that I had next to no problems, and the ones I did have were my own fault. The Bolt is my first Droid, and Im lovin it. This method is my prefered method and I tried the other one click dealio. Ive rooted my phone twice(Had to send it in for a broken digitizer) and will be rooting my cousins this way as well.

PS: If you follow the directions on the PDF he posted, itll be perfect your first shot.

Ditto, it's a copy and paste but if command line stuff scares you then pay someone to root it for you. If you get just one hiccup it can mean the difference between a working phone and a brick.
Besides, if you aren't good with CLI then I'd doubt you are familiar with checking MD5 checksums...which is a must to prevent bricking. It'd suck to get a bad download or copy to SD card that screws up.
