How robust is SGS2 charging socket?

My new SGS2 is on a 2 year contract. Assuming that it needs charging approx daily, then the socket will be used around 700 times just for charging. Do micro USB sockets/plugs stand up to such plugging/unplugging use without becoming intermittent or failing completely? What evidence is there?

No evidence that I'm aware of, but as the USB at the phone end is constantly being plugged in/out with the wall charger, if I do frequent connections/reconnections with my PC and USB cable (as I do very often) then I disconnect it at the PC end instead to reduce the phone-end physical connections and disconnect at the phone end when I know I'm finished with it.

Iirc the microUSB design specifically addresses problems found with miniUSB regarding wear in the interface due to frequent use.

Fwiw, my DZ is coming up to its first birthday and its microUSB port shows no problems despite higher-than-average usage.

In Europe Samsung handsets are covered by 24 months warranty (from the date of purchase) and 27 months (from the shipping date - can be checked on the label).

So there is really no reason to be worried about.

BTW charging socket in SG 2 is not soldered to mainboard, no chance to fu** up the mainboard, and can be fixed by anyone who knows how to use the screwdriver :)

My N97 used the micro usb, so did my old samsung and black berry. I've always used my phone as my work pc modem, charge my phone every day, transfer files to client pc's via the usb cable, and have my phone plugged into my car dock while I drive. And I'm not very gentle either. My point: when everything on my N97 stopped working, the connection was still firm and I had no charging or pc connectivity issues. These work brilliantly, and that's from personal experience.
