Root How to backup when falshing new rom

Mojoe21

Newbie
i havent read the thread that tell how to use titanium backup yet but was wondering if it can backup contacts also?

Mainly though i am confused on what people are saying when falshing a new rom. i know u make a nandroid and then backup other stuff like apps with titanium. But what confused me was after ppl said to wipe
dalvick
cache
sd-ext
data
systm

wouldnt wiping sd-ext wipe ur nandroids and the apps u back up? since they are saved on the SD card?

that is a little much as far as wiping goes. i only wipe data, dalvik cache and cache when flashing a rom. but i do use vr superwipe as well. it is a flashable .zip file that wipes temp files, system, boot, data and cache. you can get it on the rom/kernel sticky.

moving apps using apps2sd only moves part of the app to the card. however, the sd-ext is used when you parttion your card and you move your apps to a section of the card usually in ext3.

as far as contacts go. as long as they are linked to google then each rom or even phone you are on all you would have to do is log into google when you first set the rom up and you should have all of your contacts imported.

YES! always backup contacts through google when saving them... saves u alot of time and hassle! trust me! for the longest time i didnt save them to google so when i got into rooting and flashing it was hell.. but i figured out how to save them to computer then import them to my gmail account on the comp so it turned out great other than the time and hassle it took to figure it out (if anyone else needs help on it i get give more in depth on what to do!) anyway i agree with ocnbrze that sounds like a lot to wipe for each rom... and yes i recommend the superwipe... ocnbrze suggested it to me the other day and it works great!

ok but wouldnt it still wipe everything on my sd card? i remember when i was flashing kings virus it wiped my whole sd card that had my nandroids. but i also did a full system wipe.

so if i do the super wipe would it touch anything on my sd-card? i dont want to go through the trouble of putting my nandroid that i saved on my comp on my phone.

im trying out snergy ROM and i heard its likes to have a good wiped phone to falsh correctly

what recovery are you using? wiping sd ext will wipe you card. if you only wipe cache, dalvik cache and data, you card will be safe. and the same goes for superwipe. just wipe those three time and use superwipe 3x.

1.ok so download superwipe and put on your card.
2.go into recovery
3.wipe data, dalvik cache and cache three times
4.select flash .zip from sd card
5.select superwipe and flash it. do it 3x
6.select rom and flash it

let it reboot. the synergy roms take forever so make sure you have plenty of battery and be patient.

doing things 3times is optional and overkill, but it ensures a clean environment for your rom.

don't forget to make a nadroid first.

every phone is different. godmode is suppose to make thing runs faster. for me my phone actually lagged a little so i do not use godmode. i use a custom kernel with setcpu and i also use the v6 supercharger script as well.

ok yea i wanted to use the v6 supercahrger but it looked confusing when i was reading the post on xda.
u have a simplied version on how to instal it?

you can but is not needed since superwipe deos that as well. i just wipe dalvik cache, cache and data and never had any issues.

ok thanks, could u tell me how to install v6 supecharger , the directions seemed kinda hectic and hard to understand

no worries
1.once the superwipe is on the card
2.and after you wipe dalvik cache and cache and data
3.select flash .zip from sd card
4.scroll down to the vr superwipe and select it.
5.once it is done do that 2 more times
6.afterwards again select flash .zip from card and flash synergy
and then reboot

oh ha i see.
1.you need to download script manager.
2.transfer the supercharger to your card.
3.run script manager.
4.find the supercharger script and select
5.select run as root
6.select 1 for scrolling speed
7.now there is a bunch of choices you can do i have used both 8 or 9, but you can try the other choices if you want.
8.reboot

Ok seems pretty simple
So do i put the script manager on thr root of my SD-card and flash it like i normally do?
How do i run the manager?
Do I just put the surcharge script on the root of my SD-card also?
