How to change

So here's the issue I'm facing.

I want to be able to make my IP appear to be from another state, right now I'm in California, but I'd like to make it appear I'm in new York through the IP address. I tried getting a app to spoof the GPS location... but its still giving me a California IP.

I don't want to use a proxy, I want to use the 3g network.

Is there anyway to make it give me a NY ip through my current network(sprint) ?

The IP location is the location listed by the owner of the IP address - Sprint, in this case, and the location they're listing for that IP address. There are ways of spoofing IP addresses but a) if you have to ask you're a few years short of the knowledge needed to do it and b) it's very illegal (the "free vacation on the south shore of Cuba" type of illegal).

I use HideNinja app from play store. Its a small one off payment and lets me watch US Netflix in UK (other countries too)

Ya my IP was switching between Arizona and Nevada which are just a state away. I'm really wondering how they track what your state is... even when I turned off GPS it was still giving me a California IP address mostly ... so I guess what Im wondering is how do they know I'm In California when my GPS is off?

When i posted the link above, it said, Michigan, i just clicked on the link, now it says, Planefield,Illinois but i live in Pennsylvania. I just don't get it?

EDIT : also i didn't have gps on. Actually, i forgot about this, couple weeks ago i flashed a different rom and i noticed my IP address was totally different.

Tower triangulation. They can tell by what tower you are connected to.

It's not even triangulation. The carrier knows what addresses are assigned in what region. A phone in NY will pull from a different group of addresses (or scope) than a phone in CA. My RR connection will have a different set of addresses than a RR connection in MA.

Look up DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), understand how it works and you'll see how they can know the general area you're in just based on what your IP is, even with no GPS or triangulation of cell towers involved.

Changing your HA address could accomplish this to an extent. Google and apps like speed test say and give me servers in Atlanta but I'm not even in that state. However, depending on how location is requested, apps can still get my correct location.
