How to commit insurance fraud?

I dropped my phone today.

It was in my jeans pocket, I was folding them up to put in the gym locker. I looked at it in the pocket and though to myself, "okay, take it out or don't turn the jeans upside down you idiot"

I ignored my own sage advice and blam, cracked screen. Phone still works perfectly, but...cracked screen.

I'm strangely not fussed, despite having bought it SIM free less than a month ago. But anyways I obviously want it sorted.

Doesn't seem the sort of part that can simply be replaced replaced, so I'm wondering what the sort of dealio is with phone insurance?
I don't know why I didn't take it out originally...probably because I'm always ultra careful and haven't ever broken anything

So anyways, anyone got any ideas on what to do from here?

Thanks!
Pics to follow probably so you can laugh at me

Some how I don't think the android forums condone insurance fraud.. lol

All I can say was you should have taken it out man! When I found out how expensive this phone's worth checking out the contracts, it was a priority to sort!

Check with your bank account ect, some times they do insurance as part of accounts, you could also claim under house insurance if you have it (considering how expensive it is, same value as a laptop really)

Insurance should cover accidental damage, my N8 has 1 month free and so did my DHD, both were covered for everything except for loss so no getting an extra DHD or N8 for free ;)

One drop and the screen cracked!!!! OMG! I must protect my phone against all odds... My old Sony Ericsson W902 dropped a million times but still works fine (although lately it's having severe booting problems).

HTC, this is not brilliant.

ADTC - seriously its a huge screen what do you expect??!?! If you want a phone thats indestructible, buy one made from Tonka.

Everyone wants them thinner, more powerful, bigger screen etc. This obviously affects its ability to 'bounce'.

Now this is completely unrelated to anything about this thread, but thought I'd post it anyway...

Sony used to offer insurance for the PS3. It was a service you could join at any time, and cancel at any time.
Sadly, they closed that service because thousands of people were joining for 1 month, making a claim for a broken PS3, and then cancelling straight away.

... Like I say, completely unrelated, but interesting all the same

I have mine through my bank as part of my current account. I only really wanted the AA cover, but phone insurance too so not moaning.

I think it may be wise, to possibly continue this discussion elsewhere as I don't think Android Forums would condone insurance fraud or discuss attempts on how to.

Just pay out for a new screen mate, not gonna be the most expensive part of the phone. And take it as a lesson learned, get a screen protector next time.

Trying to wangle a free phone from an insurance scam could be more trouble than it's worth

Right on the mark.

That's a pretty crappy thing to have happened, but please keep the suggestions legal guys.

Ha obviously the title was sardonic, I didn't mention it at all in the thread.

Actually, I've sort of dropped it a few times, but always on carpet or something.

This one time was a hard gym locker room floor and it landed right on the corner while vertical, so obviously that's going to reverberate through the phone and shatter the glass
Oh well.
I didn't realise screen replacement was an option really so I'll look into that
Cheers!
