How to convert PSX ISOs to work on the Xperia Play

I have not heard that, however I am on 2.3.3. Verizon is always last to push out updates, so I figure I'll be on 2.3.3 for a while :p

One that does not work

Star Wars -Dark Forces , graphics are corrupt.
 
Does anyone have any idea how to fix the sound issue with games? I have tried playing a few and the game play is great just the sound is choppy.
 
Hey guys, like i luv this listing of urs converting n stuff wouldn't it be better just loading isos or Cso onto PSX. But anyways is it worth no buying the Xperia Play and waiting for either Xperia play 2 or Xperia DUO :confused: ??? PLZ tell

I am getting error when extracting. This is the message I get all the time.



Cannot extract APK! Java says invalid entry CRC (expected 0xe8-------- but got 0xed-------)

Can anyone help please
 
hey im trying to do this, have followed instructions over and over, everytime i try and paste either of the files i get a read only error. i downloaded the playstation file instead but the second file you say copy i still cant paste due to the read only and also cant find it floating about online :/ would really appreciate your help, dont know what iv missed. i only bought it today just for this reason.

Did anybody try Speed Freaks? it was one of my fave PS1 games. I would post a link but cause i'm so new the forum won't let me.
 
update 2.3.4 currently has problems running this..stay to 2.3.3 please update if anyone figures this out. cant play my games in 2.3.4 crash bandicoot had an update so i thnk maybe u need to get the apk file again based on the update?pls upload it for me, root explorer doesnt work on my phone dont know why so i cant do the steps in getting the file on my own phone.
 
I can confirm this does not work if you have 2.3.4.
First I thought it was my phone (that JAVA based conversion tool reported an error), so I tried to find a required apk. file on the web.
Then I converted again, this time no errors but the game still won't work. After that health warning screen, it returns back to the Android home screen. I tried 2 PSX games, none worked. Maybe we need to wait for the author to update that tool...
 
Just to confirm, I tested Spyro with the files from a 2.3.3 phone but the game doesn't go past the health and safety screen on 2.3.4!!

Does anyone confirm that this is not working? I tried with some 10 different games, did everything exactly as in the tutorial, and not a single one worked. Not even started.

too bad, never got to put a single one of my old psx games on my new phone... :/

Edit: good news on xda forums! it seems that if you use the USA apk for crash instead of the euro one, the emu works with your psxperia rips! niiice :)
 
i cant file the .apk file on my xperia play,i found the .zpk can some one help me.my system folder contains a folder called pins only .ANY HELP??
 
ive done all the first bit get to the launching of the converter check tall the boxs and dont get squat, and hey if anyone knows if they have goten Finale Fantasy Tactics to work or not that would be kool, if not ima try and get it to work :)

Hi aek, welcome to AF!

Whilst it's cool to discuss the process of getting the games to work, due to copyright/legal issues, we can't actually tell you where to obtain the ROMs.

You can download the ROMs if you already own a copy of the game on disc, but otherwise it's classed as piracy and that goes against the site rules and guidelines.

I hope you understand, however my door is open if you need further clarifiction. :)
 
i have been doing this for so many games, i can install them and get them to appear on the phone and in the playstation area buy everytime i open them they just close instantly.

There in lies the problem, there is a compaitability page floating around the web for the xperia and psx games that work, etc.

I tried about 40-45 games, approx 15-20 out of the 40-45 tested worked and ran well on the xperia play, for me it was trial and error .

I will say this, ALL 'EA' games that I tried failed, nascar, hockey, madden etc etc, couldn't get one to work.

I managed to get Ace Combat 2, and Wipeout 3, but it took some time. In the end, the novelty of the new phone will wear off, and you'll realise your playing a 15/16 year old game on a mediocre sony playstation phone.

If I do play a game on this thing, which only comes with extreme fits of boredom, it's a MAME game, to each their own, but thats my humble opinion :p
 
I've got a queston. Do i need both ES File Explorer and Root Explorer or do i only need one of these two?

I did this with Final Fantasy VII by copying the Preferences from Crash Bandicoot and pasting it in the UCC folder. I am still experiencing a force close at the "Update" window. Any suggestions?
 
omfg guys cant wait to tell you after 2 hours of tinkering i finally got A (just one) ps2 game to work on xperia play. i put an iso into psxperia version 2 (once all steps followed) once it had given me the apk and zpak i put the new zpak back in to the extract part (then followed steps) . with the second apk and zpak put in the correct place on on your memory card. install it then restart your phone, (note the amount of ram it requires is to play on the phone is too much so to make it work put the phone in airplane mode) and ta darrrr ps2 on xperia play this will only work on phones with enough specs to play certain games, each game requires different amounts of different specs
 
hey guys new to the xperia play, i followed the advice here, where im getting lost is the part where you enter the iso, i have no ps1 games i traded them in years ago, where can i get the iso for a few games, sorry for the newb questions
