Help How to disable "DROID" on phone startup?

So my Incredible randomly rebooted a few days ago at about 3 in the morning. I keep it on my nightstand since I use it as my alarm. I damn near had a heart attack when I woke up to hear it screaming "DROIDDDD" at me as it started up again. It's just so frickin' LOUD.

Is there a way to disable it?

You would have to use the android sdk (command line program for your pc) and remove the file.

Or you can root and delete the file right from the phone.

Didn't they move the animation and mp3 to the system/etc folder since 2.2? Is this accessible without root?

Before I rooted I would just put my phone on silent and the boot sound wouldn't play.

There's an app called Silent Boot that will take care of it for you.

or you can simply put your ringer on silent. no sound on start up. just that annoying brief vibration.
