Help How to fix issues with gmail

Silvist

Android Enthusiast
I've already seen posts on this, but I figured i'd throw out the info, because ive run into a lot of people with this problem.

If your phone has problems with gmail period, especially when your trying to synch/create new gmail. You will have to factory restore your phone. Prior to this I would back up everything on the phone. As in transfer all your pictures, videos, txt/pic msg, mp3s/music, and android apps (use android mate) to your memory card. Make sure you remove the memory card out of the phone. Some how, you will have to back up your contacts. I would recommend going to a Metro corperate store, and have them use their "cell brite" machine to back up your contacts.

After this is done, turn the phone off. When turning on the phone hold the power button, call volume up, and send/call key at the same time. You will see a black and blue screen appear. Choose the option that says wipe information, and then once you do you will have to scroll down about 5-6 times, and choose erase all. DO NOT CHOOSE ANYTHING REGARDING PARTIONS OR WHAT NOT. It should be the 3rd option. Afterwards choose reboot.

When you start up the phone it'll show the start up guide, make sure you don't skip all this. When it gets to setting up the email, choose the gmail and either set up a new one or sign into your own. This should basically be it, and your phone should be working.

Why is this important? Because without gmail synch you can't acess the android market, thus making the phone almost useless.

Thanks so much for your post and instructions! It would be useful to also mention what carrier you are with.

I'm not sure if the same procedure works the same way with Cricket and MetroPCS. Do you know if it does?

so has anyone found a trick to deleting all the google stuff and still accessing the market?:) Right now i am happier with not accessing it as long as i dont have the google stuff lol..anyone?

That is never going to happen. This is why it's an Android. It would be like wanting to delete Microsoft from your computer if you have windows.

You might as well get a Mac. LOL

In your case...an iphone! :D

Anything can fixed around on Antroid..just checking to see if anyone has done it yet..but thanks for response.

Sorry for not responding Jazziette,

I'm with metro, but it should be the same. After all metro uses crickets towers, and cricket uses metro @_@.

Where did you hear that? Cricket uses Sprints towers. They have recently signed a 5 year contract.

Do you have a link with that info anywhere? I would be interested in reading it please.

Sorry but no. Cricket piggybacks on Leap Wireless, it doesnt use Sprint's towers. The Sprint deal was only for roaming. P.S. A sidenote: Tmobile is selling its 4g towers (HSPA+) to switch to real 4g LTE towers. Maybe Cricket would get involved and buy some towers.

Cricket is owned by Leap Wireless. And yes, they have a 5 year roaming contract with Sprint Nextel to use their towers. It's an awesome contract!

Cricket does not use Sprint towers, it uses Leap Wireless since its owned by them. They only use Sprint towers for roaming
