Help How to fix this android error

Hi I've been looking all over Google about this error and how to fix it. And I have found nothing. The error is called E: check version failed! I'm new to modding android. And I hope somebody knows how to fix the problem on my android. I'm trying to flash a new clockworkmod recovery. Thanks to all that help. :)

You don't say what tool you are using to flash it. If we knew that we might be able to narrow things down a bit.

But to me that sounds like a checksum or signature fail. So are you sure you have a good download? Alternatively if you are using a tool which would check a signature you may need to turn that off.

I'm tried to install a update.zip of clockworkmod recovery through stock recovery. And this error E:check version failed! keeps showing up even with signed zips I sign with sign-em.

It goes like this
finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:check version failed!
Installation aborted

But it is quite possible that the stock recovery will only install official signed zips. That's certainly the case with the stock HTC recovery, I have no experience of ZTE myself.

That's one of the things people use a custom recovery for: to be able to install unofficial updates. So I'd suggest trying to find a custom recovery for that phone (and I do mean for the ZTE Midnight, not just any ZTE or any phone - you really do not want to use a custom recovery that was built for a different phone, as very bad things will happen).
