[How-To] Force the Official Android 2.2 Froyo Update for the Motrola Droid (FRG01B | Update 1 of 2)

I got my update the other day OTA & lost my 3G/Data/Web stuff & just tried to install another update from here but can't. Getting an error (status 7) & aborted. I have a new phone coming but can't afford to loose everything on this one (texts, call logs, etc.) since I use it for my business. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH GETTING 2.1 BACK OR GETTING 2.2 TO WORK?? HELP GET EVERYTHING BACKED UP OFF THE PHONE?? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, ANYONE!!!
 
I know two people who waited until OTA upgrades and they both got FRG01B.. and that was on 8/18 and 8/20.. I figured people were getting FRG22, but they didn't.

We don't even know for sure if FRG22 is actually a build that will be released to us. That was leaked a while ago and chances are good that development has changed in such a way that FRG22 is not going to be the official release. And that's assuming that there will even be a second release to the MotoDroid.

Uhh does anybody know what the OTA message looks like for frg22 of if they can tell me what frgo1b looks like. After flashing a ROM I got different OTA notice than I'm used to seeing.

E:Cant mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Cant find MISC:

By the way, im using Droid 2.
i didnt root my phone or whatsoever.

It's because this is for the original Moto Droid, not the Droid 2.

Ok so I. Did the update installed it and it went over great but I have a small issue, I still can't get Flash play 10.1if anybody has any ideas let me know please

I have the same question. Whered you find it? I forced this the a couple weeks ago. I just looked in my astro app and the update file is still there. Can I delete it? Should I? I haven't yet received the the 2nd update yet.

nm, I ended up finding it myself.
 
Frg01b. Yesterday i downloaded frg22D, as well as that little 1.6mb patch. Both versions seem the same, but the 22D seems a lot more jerky when scrolling, as well as using more battery (the battery thing could be just my imagination.

So, question is, how do i go back to frg01b. I tried the original downloads, and those only work if youre coming from 2.1.

Any answers will be appreciated.
 
I'm a newbie to the rooted world. I just have a few questions regarding the update.

1. Will this update work on a rooted Droid?

2. Will this update potentially brick the phone if it was intended for non-rooted Droids?

3. What firmware, kernel, baseband and build versions should be shown to indicate that it's rooted and ready for custom ROMs?

Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks.:D
 
i have a rooted phone with EasyRoot...and now after the update i followed on here for the OTA (with the scanning of the QR codes), my root doesn't seem to work. I can't get the wireless/wired tether to work, or SetCPU says its in "read-only" mode. I have go into the EasyRoot and it says i'm rooted....anyone help?
