awsome sauce :smokingsomb: glad the POS did the trick :D

On step 4 how do I downgrade to 2.2?
just keep following the directions in step 4 :)

Ok so i have followed all steps up to step 3 so far flawlessly and i have successfully unlocked the phone(or atleast it says unlocks at the top in pink) and ive struggled for hours on step 3. The exact error im getting is:

--Installing /sdcard/superuser.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/superuser.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted

I have read numerous threads including most pages on this one and haven't found anything with a solutions.

I go into recovery from HBOOT and wipe the cache partition
Wipe Dalvik cache
the install zip from SD card and that when i get that message.

This is what I have tried:
installing different superuser files from different places(including this thread)
Once i have downloaded the file i open with WinRAR and i dont extract, i simply just drag over into the destination folder.
When creating a root folder i name it whatever and add a .zip at the end because all downloads i have found isnt one single folder. its 2 folders named system and META-INF
I have tried doing the same thing on a Windows xp (older comp) and instead of using WinRAR i use the basic download and dont extract once again, i just drag and drop.
I went out and bought a card read today to see if my SDcard is formatted in FAT32 and it is.
I have tried redoing Step 2 again to see if it makes any difference and it doesn't
I have tried using different SD cards as well.

It seems ive tried everything I just hope im doing something wrong and that you can catch it.

i was actually able to do it to the point where i have to flash that froyo thingy.. but the next step which is all about unlocking that htc dev once more.. i cannot proceed simply because i cannot access usb dbugging mode anymore.. i tried the old method of trying to go to settings and tapping the search button to access the development area but i htink the downgrade disabled that method and now im stuck with an htc droid that is locked, downgraded and unable to access usb debug.. help please.. >.<

make sure you have left the file as a zip file, and not extracted it

try looseing up or temporarily disabling any antivirus/firewall standards that may be modifying the zip file download. some files and exploits are picked up as potential threats

why can you not access usb debuggig? is your phone not booting? in this case, you can run the downgrade ruu a second time, and perform a factory reset from hboot.

if you are simply refering to the verizon activation screen, search you tube for a trick where you touch the corners of the screen. if it doesnt work, just let it dial and try and update roaming capabilities or let the phone activate. once it fails 3 or 4 times,it will let you past.

you dont actually need usb debug to re-unlock the bootloader. that command is a fastboot command, not an adb command. just skip adb devices and adb reboot bootloader and isue the unlock command after manually selecting fastboot from the hboot screen :)

on step 3 since it wouldnt find the file on my SD card i put it on the phone. but in step 4
now I'm having trouble getting pass this part....

every time i do the "adb push mtd0.img /sdcard/" it's like it cant find my SD card...
I have tried another 2GB SD card and a 256MB SD card... even made sure they all was formated to Fat32 before placing the files on it...

Make sure the phone is in charge only mode. Check in settings/storage and make sure that the sd card is not greyed out,and that you can access content(like photos) on the phone itself

What trouble are you having turning on USB debug?

As long as you have successfully downgraded to froyo,USB debug actually doesn't matter much. You can re-unlock the hboot by simply putting the phone into fastboot manually. You can then flash a recovery and install the forever zip

when i do step 5 the device cant recognize by the computer...
i still do not understand why you cannot turn on usb debugging. at any rate, you can continue,as i said here:

i factory reset my phone in step 4 so i couldnt go to recovery
that is correct. flashing the downgrade ruu overwrites the custom recovery. youll have to keep following the guide to reunlock, reinstall recovery, and install root and s off.

i cant continue because the computer cant find the phone

See post 834.

You do not need USB debug enabled for the pc to see the phone in fastboot. You are almost done... Jus place the phone in fastboot manually, and continue the guide, skipping the commands that start "adb xxx" and run the commands that are "fastboot xxx"

I think this is a really great guide! But I am having a problem...(At the beginning) when I do adb devices command, I get this:

c:\miniadb_inc>adb devices
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
HT09EHJ07713 device

I don't know if that is a problem or not, but I continued. The adb reboot bootloader command works fine and does what it should. But then when I do fastboot devices, it does nothing. It doesn't return anything, just goes to another line waiting for another command:

c:\miniadb_inc>adb devices
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
HT09EHJ07713 device

c:\miniadb_inc>adb reboot bootloader
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *

c:\miniadb_inc>fastboot devices

c:\miniadb_inc>

Any help? I've tried all of the other tricks on here. I've check drivers but the ones that you've shown do not work with Windows 8. I installed HTC Sync off of the HTC website. I don't really know what else to do. I'm going to try an older computer with windows vista, but any advice would be great. Thanks!

Sorry, you're on your own with windows 8. Since 95% of what I do with my pc is phone related I have stayed with windows 7 because of all the windows 8 prolems. Wish I could be of more help, but I have no experience on this one. My only guess is to try manually updatating the drivers with the phone in fastboot using the ones that are supposed to work.

Also make sure the phone is in fastboot, not hboot. You should see a red "fastboot USB" when plugged in.

Make sure you uninstall HTC sync,it could be causing issue

i cant see unlocked, locked or relocked on my hboot screen but it is already s off

I had a feeling that was the "prollem" ;) you don't need this guide, you all ready have the end result. If you wish to reroot, there is another sticky a couple threads down on how to root with s off or unlocked boot loader.

I would recommend to let your phone ota to current before rerooting. :)
