Well I created new apn with all the correct settings, saved it,greed dotted it and it looks to be working so far. thanks for the help:D

the only problem I am having is that my face book contacts are not in my phone contacts. I have tried several thing with no luck. Any ideal?

It's four hours off and i can't change it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

go to setting and put the phone in airplane mod for a minute than take it off, if that doesnt work try setting/date&time uncheck Automatic and set your timing zone, thancheck automatic back.

I don't know about his, but with my ascend on icarus, yes I can put it in airplane mode then take it out and that works. BUT. you still can't change the time zone or take it out of automatic (again, on mine) what I did was put it in airplane mode, backed out went to date & time settings, THEN took it out of automatic, then changed time zone, put it back in automatic, then took it out of airplane mode. The reason i changed the zone was because every once in a while (for some unknown reason) it would change my time when i got a call. Hope this helps. (if i'm not too late)

For those of you that may be running the upgrade on Linux (Ubuntu in particular) and get the "waiting for device" message while trying to install CWM Recovery ("install-recovery-linux.sh"), be sure to run it as super user ("sudo ./install-recovery-linux.sh").

I noticed that with this root i no longer have The metroPCs log and sound at boot up ,GREAT! However I would like to add a boot up sound, the one that say's D,R.O.I.D I'm sure you have heard it. Anyways how do i go about doing that? Where do I put the sound file?

First, a huge thanks to the people who put the icarus walthrough together. I really hate this phone, but I hate it substantially less now!

My net connection at home is down for a week, and I'm hoping that some phone guru has an opinion on which free tethering app to use!

Thanks in advance!

I've been called A LOT OF THINGS, guru definitely not one of them.........P.H.A.T.(Phone 'Ho Ascend Trick) would perhaps be more fitting. :P

Try BARNACLE in the ANDROID MARKET.

Well, as the title states, I am a noob to this thing and it's showing with my repeated failures to install Icarus.

My first major problem (which is the problem leading to the ultimate failure of being able to install Icarus) is that I can't even get ClockworkMod version 2.5.1.8 installed. I've been following the steps directly from "How to install Clock Work Mod Recovery 2.5.1.8" by Jaziette, and here's where the problem starts:

I created the recovery folder on my sdcard.

Now, when I get to where it says I have to install flash_image and recovery.zip, both of the links provided are broken. So, another user (nuttmeg) offered a .rar folder containing the necessary two links, and while recovery is in there, flash_image is not. When others asked where it is, nuttmeg just said he combined the two.

So I took his word for it and went ahead with the Android Terminal Emulator portion of the debacle. I put all of the commands in step-by-step, but when I got to the "flash_image" part of the commands - surprise! - flash_image could not be found.

I tried installing Icarus with the new version of CWM and it failed, so I guess if I can't get this older version installed, I'm screwed. Can anyone help with this?

im trying to flash the clockwork mod 3.xxx to a 2.xxx so i can instal icarus but i cant get it right

fastboot your phone and connect it to the computer, than download and extract this to your desktop,
CWM 2.5.1.8.rar after you extracted the folder open it and run fastboot-windows, next run install-recovery-windows, after that just pull battery wait 10 sec put battery back in and boot into recovery, you recovery menu should be green and black.

GOD knows I have. My only problem is I run Icarus and can't find a forum that will help me with the start up sound. I have changed the boot.zip just by copying over that old one. However Icarus doesn't have a sound zip.

I have done this and that to my ascend. Icarus being the biggest thing. After all is said and done I have45.3 mb free ROM : 137 mb free internal : 1.24 gb free SD card : 415 mb free a2sd. Does all these numbers look okay?

Hey guys, I have been pretty satisfied with Icarus 1.1 for the past few months but I have seen a few new fw's come out and I was wondering if Icarus was still the top in speed. So what is everyone else's experiences with the new fw's out there?

Sorry if this topic has been beat to death. I just want to make sure I'm running the best fw for my Ascend. :)

Those #'s are similar to what I have, except the SDcard on mine has a lot more free memory (difference in card memory size, perhaps).
My phone on CM7 is running smooth as silk.

Sounds like you have plenty of memory available. As long as your phone is running smooth,I wouldn't be concerned w/what the numbers actually are.

I've heard that people generally start experiencing issues when internal memory falls below 20mb,so,by your numbers, you shouldn't be experiencing any problems due to memory issues.

I'm trying to tether with barnacle as suggested.. when I open barnacle, it opens up fine, but doesn't ask for root access until after i click start, and fails saying it needs su access. So I close barnacle, go to SuperUser, barnacle is on there... I go back to barnacle, same result.

What an I missing?

Bumping again because I am having the same problem. I think the problem has something to do with the fact that barnacle doesn't ask for SU permission until you press "Start", I would think it should ask when you open the app.

I am using the stock music player ( Ascend ) icarus 1.1. Everything works great except the only way I have found to turn off the music player is to just pause the song. Will it turn itself off? Or do I need to do something? Thank you for your help.

I think pausing the music is the only way to stop the music from playing. The music player is featureless. Try something such as Player Pro. Its a paid app but its well worth it.
