HOW TO: Live Wallpaper without Rooting

I want to do this upgrade to my fone, but I can't get it into download mode, I have do the 2.1 upgrade, I got it into download mode once and I didn't see the download bar on the fone move at all. went back to go back into download mode, and I am having problems getting their the fone boots on by itself, without having to turn it on.

I done this several times, I have called samsung, and they want me to send the fone in for repairs.....lol

I have everything else set up, but I can't get past the fone booting up by itself.

also is it mandatory that I shut of my firewall and virus protection? I am thinking that is the reason that the status bar on my fone didn't get the download. the one time that I did get into download mode.

HELP PLEASE.

I was told that something went wrong with my update and that I will have to bring it in to be flashed, go figure I was so close to having all my toys......

once you get the "live wallpaper" update installed, you have to go download them from the market. Only one comes with this update, and it's the Google maps live wallpaper.

on a side note, I did this update 2 weeks ago, and have it working perfectly on my Samsung Moment.

Can someone post a link to the "old cl14 installer" and "new recovery file". Both links are dead in the original post.

Thanks
LOL. was going to post that as well.
So how soon will u be able to get the new links up Zim????
I deff. need Live wallpaper!!!!!:D

Sorry I've been away. I actually got an EVO when it came out, so I've been enjoying that to the max.

Don't think I forgot about ya'll!!

I did some research, and found some fresh links. They're working properly again!

Follow the instructions! <3

*6/30 EDIT! - The new links are now working properly! Go crazy!

-This post is assuming you already have the 2.1 update-

Files Used:

CCLeaner
OLD CL14 SAMSUNG INSTALLER
New Recovery File
Live Wallpaper ZIP

Heads-up, the "New Recovery File" link above points to DE03 update file (SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1.tar.md5, 155 MB).

In case ZimLanfire can't take a break from EVO to fix this, ;)

the link in here works, get the .tar file:

[NEWER VERSION AVAILABLE] SDX Recovery 3.0.8

Greetings all,

When you get new live wallpapers that didn't come from Market, where do they need to go on the SD card? I've tried assigning them their own folder (Live Wallpapers) but the app doesn't find them.

After I downloaded the Earth one off Market, I checked its location on my SD card & saw that it has its own folder in the root directory. Is that the way all live wallpapers have to be stored?

Thanks for the great info, but I still cannot get the update.zip to go through...

this is what I see on my Moment after I click apply sdcard:update.zip

"# Manual Mode #
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update Package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted."

I have saved the Zip file onto my desktop then copied to the root of my SDCard. What is going on??? So frustrating! lol Help please?

It depends on which recovery youre using.
Boot into recovery and see what it says up top, if it says SDX recovery 3.0.8 or higher, youll need to put the file in sdcard/sdx/zip. SDX recovery 3.0.7 or lower put it in your sdcard but not in a folder. Boot into recovery, choose apply .zip from sd, highlight your choice, hit the trackpad, then hit home button. Hitting anything else will cancel applying your .zip. ANy other problems or questions dont hesitate to ask.

Trying to do this and following the instructions to a T. But when I go to install the OLD CL14 Updater... the link is broken... and I found another one through some searching, but it doesn't give me the icon on my desktop (or in the folder) SWUpdate. I can't do this without it updating...

Please help!!

at what point in the instructions should the phone be plugged in? im a bit confused. The first like 7 steps seem to be referring to the computer ONLY and then it just starts referring to the phone without ever having said something along the lines of Now plug the phone in.

When you run the SWUpdate tool, that is where you plug the phone in... following the instructions in the SWUpdate software.

My problem is after installing the SDX Samsung Updater Patch... There is no icon for the SW Update...

Can someone help me with this? Maybe I didn't clean the reg right?! How do I use CCleaner to search for Samsung in the reg?

DAMN. I did all of this EXACTLY as the instructions said and not only did it wipe my phone to a fresh install and all my prevous downloads and settings are gone but i have no Live wallpapers option....:( what the hell?

I am getting this error as well (and a fully wiped system) and i have no sdk folder, i have the zip in the root and am getting the same exact message that he got.

EDIT: I am really confused as to what happened. I just spent the past 2 hours getting the phone back to my liking reinstalling all my apps and settings. What a waste. It feels like I have a different moment now. Now its very laggy and slow where as it wasn't before my shit was wiped out. This feels like a bad joke.

It keeps saying "failed" and "aborted" when i try to unzip file in recovery mode...any idea what couldve went wrong?? I thought i did good with the instructions but did not work..soooo i did something wrong obviously lol....the computer didnt have any samsung files on it..its new...so should i just delete everything and start over? Thank you so much for your help!!

Any updates on this? I ran into the same problem and was unable to load live wallpapers.
