Help How to re-map the Evo keys?

pglenn

Newbie
is it possible to re-map the Evo's keys (home, menu, back, search) with an application, on an un-rooted Evo? and especially the "long press" keys? I've been playng with an install of Go-Launcher for a couple of days and havent found an option, although I read it was possible before I installed it. Any other method (other than rooting) or applications thar will allow this?

Do you mean, "when I long press the search button, I want my sms application to launch"?
or "when I long press my home button, I want my audio profile application to launch"?
or "when I long press my menu button, I want google maps application to launch"?

Well, did not check out ocn's link but you may want to try that.
Otherwise, just short of rooting, there is a launcher I use, not free, that will allow you to remap the "home" key and the "back" key along with shortcuts for finger swipes..see below

The launcher is called TSF shell

Like I said, it's not free, and when you look at the price, you're gonna say, "what? for a launcher???!!"...yeah, I know, don't ask. I bought it.:):p

The rosie is your bottom screen dock buttons. TSF shell has none.

Edit: I also got rid of my notification bar on my home screens....it appears like it supposed to on other screens tho...or I "2 finger" swipe down for it.

actually I did look at OCN's provided link previously and it wasnt for me. looks like an incomplete/unfinished product and it didnt make any mention of remapping the keys.

Ths TSF shell looks interesting but near $17? dunno about that man. and it doesnt mention long-press keys can be remapped

Perhaps you may want to consider rooting :D
