Root [How To] Root 2.3.4/downgrade and Get S-off

Scratch that last part lol

after struggling with post 1 and post 2 i tried that htcdev and that didn't work but i learned something.

so i charged my phone back up and tried post 2 and BAM!! i feel so stupid that i was over thinking things, but im finally rooted on 2.2 lol

So obviously according to my username, I don't have a clue what I am doing, but additionally I cannot even get started for the simple fact that the download links and the mirror links are dead ends, can someone help me with getting these files please?

my advice would be to flash a custom rom so you dont get hassled. you can flash a froyo custom rom,if you really want to stay on froyo :)

not sure why youre having trouble. i just checked them and all the mirror links are working fine for me.

edit: i did just upload 3.22 to media fire,as the other mirror was out of bandwidth

sure. there are several good 2.3.4 roms. from comepletely stock rooted to sense 3.0 to AOSP. :) not sure of a good one,as my inc hasnt been my daily driver in a long time ;)
 
The 3.22 reflash package works with windows 7? Everytime I try to open it I get Non 7-zip archive error. I tried opening with 7-zip unsuccessfully.

EDIT: Furthermore, why wont unrEVOked 3.32 work?

Unrevoked is an exe file, you don't open it with an archiver, just run it like any other program (as administrator). No one is even sure why 3.22 even works, was discovered by accident, but 3.32 will not work.
 
Thank you much for the reply, but when I try to open the 3.22 reflash package I downloaded, it get the "Non 7 zip" error message mentioned before. I don't understand it either because I do understand that it is a .exe file..

It sounds like you have 7zip setup to open exe files. When you right click on the file, you should have the option to "run as administrator".
If you don't have that option, I'd try redownloading the package, you may have gotten a bad download.

oddly enough, it still says non 7 zip archive when I run as administrator.

EDIT: I have also tried re-downloading 2 other times.

if you ran unrevoked and are s-off,it should have installed clockwork. if not,you can download a recovery and flash it in hboot. select recovery in the hboot menu,and it should take you to clockwork(i personally use amon)

I was able to download the file successfully as an .exe file to my phone, I'll send it to my PC when I get a chance and see if it runs.
