Root How To Root + Install Custom ROM + Backup + More

Hi folks,

on my rooted Hero I've flashed Vanilla Eclair 6.2
Silly me: I imediately flashed Google Apps too - but a version only for android 2.3

Now I can't get to the market to install new apps.
Therefore I can't install ROM-Manager to do a new flash.

I can: phone, surf, wifi, mobile network, connect to pc via usb

I don't have: market, ROM-Manager, file manager, Titanium Backup

I can start fastboot, but I don't know much about it.
When I choose "reset Device" it takes me back to VE6.

Can anyone please tell me how I can get out of this nightmare ?

How can I

  • go to the market ?
  • or install ROM-Manager ?
  • or get in the Recovery Mod
  • or flash another rom ?
I'm feeling totally stuck :( I can't move forwards or backwards.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

TIA

Perform A Nandroid Backup would not work for this phone LG Optimus V. I tryed clock work mod but its not showing my phone on the list.

nvm i got clockworkmod to work. its in the recovery mode now doing the back up.

I have downloaded and installed CG 2.2.4 zip as well as all the kernels etc. Only thing is, the phone (dialler) isn't working, I keep getting the message 'Could not launch requested activity'. I have read and reread everything I can find, but I have no idea how to resolve this. If there is a thread here that can help, please point me to it, or otherwise, walk me through. I might have done something wrong, I just have no idea what it is. Thank you.
