I'm obviously new to the forums & the android world. I just kinda went head on and rooted my phone right off the back ( Only had the phone for a few days and I couldnt stand the bloatware, Plus having root has lots of benefits I could not pass ) I googled for a while before ended up here trying to root my phone. The tutorials here were a little out-dated and confusing for me so I after I got through them I just wrote my own using the ones here. This is the first tutorial I have ever written and the first blog I have ever done. I have lurked the internet & more specifically tons of forums for too long and decided its time I give a little bit back.

Thanks to all of the people that have taken time on here to write similar tutorials & guides

again, the tutorial can be found HERE <-- Click it!

Feel free to notify me of any spelling corrections & errors in the tutorial. I will try to help as many people as I can in this thread but I cant promise anything.

Thanks are appreciated!

I got all the way up to where you use the cmd prompt and am completely lost now, when i type the "su" without parenthesis it tells me that "it is not a recognized as an internal or external comment, operable program or hatch file." Need help asap. thank you.

Copy Paste this
Code:
cd C:\Optimus Root\android-sdk_r10-windows\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
your command prompt should look like this
cmdprompt1.jpg

then hit enter, then go foward with the tutorial.

Also i was looking at mikekelso's video and it showed that when he pasted the code onto the cmd it gave him back just some #'s, and with mine it runs a lot of different codes. why is that?

I really appreciate you helping me but i think i must have done something wrong because nothing on my cmd seems to work, when i put adb it says that it doesn't recognize it. same with su and all of that. also when i type adb shell, says that it doesn't recognize "adb". i'm going crazy now. lol

Thanks a lot, finally got my phone working. Only problem i had was with the adb shell commands, fixed by changing the directory to OptimusRoot instead of Optimus Root. Apparently adb shell did not like the space in the directory name.

I used your guide and I want to thank you for the newbee help it gave me. The only trouble I had was at the end with the "su" "busybox" and "superuser" being in the folders. I had to put them directly in the C: drive and change the cmd lines to reflect that and not list the folders. Then I was good as gold... Thanks Again!!!!:):):):):)

Disable UAC, Disable your antivirus and run LGNPST.exe as admin. Should do the trick.

Have done that with the same affect. It happens when I start LGNPTS. I was having a problem with the cdma workshop that was related to my antivirus so I have had it disabled since then.

After rechecking my UAC found it had got back on. Thanks for the reminder

Ok go into the folder located here

C:\Optimus Root\android-sdk_r10-windows\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools

Do you see a application file named " adb "

I dont have an "adb" file..... I jast have a "read me file" it says "The adb tool has moved to platform-tools/

If you don't see this directory in your SDK,
launch the SDK and AVD Manager (execute the android tool)
and install "Android SDK Platform-tools"

Please also update your PATH environment variable to
include the platform-tools/ directory, so you can
execute adb from any location." not sure what this means

Never mind got it working by updating SDK Manager
