Root How to Root Video HTC EVO V

Wish I had just waited a few days... I STRUGGLED for 2 hours to achieve root. I did it with my triumph in the time it takes to make a hot pocket (in the microwave)

Good work!

It took a lot of courage, but I have to say rooting the EVO V 4G really wasn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be. It's just more steps really, but they feel natural now that I've done it once already. This is coming from an Op. V user lol

lol, the steps for rooting the Triumph are the same as the Optimus V. I should know, I rooted my gf's Triumph. She hated it and sold it recently, and is back on her Slider. She can't wait to get rid of that piece of garbage too, cancel VM, and go with a T-Mobile prepaid GNex. My opinion stands.

Try going from rooting a phone as simple as the Motorola Triumph to this.
I liked the Triumph's design in this respect; it was easy and indestructible. (but I don't miss it otherwise)

However, the Evo V isn't "hard". If you can follow instructions, you're golden; if not, it's not htc's fault.

Yeah, this phone isnt hard at all, my first phone i rooted was in 2009 G1, then the mytouch. i think those were easy to but its juss following directions. bit when ppl see a video of someone doing it and their phone didnt blow up, it gives confidence to try.

By no means was this hard...but in comparison to installing an app and pressing one button is worlds easier.

that is TRUE!!!

but I like this method, back when I was rooting/flashing the G1 & MyTouch it made me feel like I was doing something smart on the computer and I was a GENIUS!!!

I followed the guide and your video (thanks again for the video), I finally got all of the steps to work. But at the end I still don't have root. Any ideas?

I did flash superuser and it is installed and shows on my apps, but root check says no root. Also Titanium backup says the same thing.

I hope someone can help, thanks.

Now I'm not the best at this I juss followed the directions. if you did the steps in the video I made and installed, sdk, htc sync, recovery, superuser zip file, and adb is set up and working properly then...

I would say try re-downloading the superuser.zip, & reflash it, if that doesn't work then try to (only if you want) wipe everything in the recovery menu, cache, dalvik cache, data/factory reset, then flash the superuser.zip then reboot to system and see if that works...

I always start with a clean slate when I 1rst try to get root access

Yeah it was the Triumphs one saving grace, if it hadn't been that easy to root and flash a rom that worked I would have definitely launched it into a wall.

No ROM could fix my gf's Triumph while she had it. 3G could stay on longer and not drop to 1X anywhere near as much, but GPS was a major pain in the ass and texting was nigh impossible with that terrible, terrible screen that just doesn't know how to interpret fast typing at all

I forgot to include the accept unlock after flashing the token. I apologize for that, but thanks for the video that goes over everything step by step :)

hey guys just go to htcdev.com and select all other supported models. and follow the instructions on the page to unlock it. i did it trough the steps in htcdev.com and are more simple than the ones here. the rooting process is the same as the htc one v . just download android sdk. load comannd prompt. install drivers. and follow instructions on htcdevs website. that simple . this has been my second time rooting an htc device and ive just found out that it is similar to the root process of the htc one v the only thing that changes is the s-off s-on wire trick for installing clockworkmod recovery.

Yeah. I personally felt that the wire trick was easier to accomplish than making a working Gold Card for unlocking the Wildfire S.

Hello sanman1185

I went to click on the link as I am Newbie and would like to get and updated Android software on my phone.

Sorry about that.

Unfortunately that user hasn't been active in almost a year on the forums, so the chances are probably slim that he will re-upload the video.

As an alternative, this guide is very straight forward if you follow it step by step. Read through it and let us know if you have any questions.
