Root How to S-OFF rooted Desire with Gingerbread

Lurker
Hi there

I have rooted my Desire using Unrevoked, then flashed this rom: [ROM][AOSP][Stock 2.3.4] F1 Gingerbread V3.
[ROM][AOSP][Stock 2.3.4] F1 Gingerbread V3 [Multi Language|4 Builds|48MB][6 June] - xda-developers

Everything is running excellently and I am really enjoying the upgrade.

First off, do I need to S-OFF?
I checked and the phone is set to S-ON

If so, what method should I use?
I have seen a tonne of guides but most of them show various ways of doing it that also include rooting.
Bare in mind I have rooted and flashed already.

The end goal is to unlock the phone and sell it as I am due an upgrade, unlocking will attract more bids I hope.

Any help appreciated, thanks

You only need s-off for flashing different hboots or deleting system apps whilst android is running (with root explorer etc). You dont need it to just flash roms. Depending on your hboot, you will need either of these if you decide to do it.

Revolutionary

AlphaRev 1.8

S-off is really easy, just run the revolurionary or alpharev program and follow the prompts. Its easier than unrevoked as you have done all the prep work already to root.

0.93 or higher hboot follow section 5 in my sig link.

Less than 0.93 use alpharev, just download the iso and rip to cd, boot up using cd and follow the prompts

Thanks guys, great help as always from everyone on here.

I tried Revolutionary and I get 'failed to get root' message unfortunately.

The phone is in debug mode, any ideas chaps?

You are already rooted???, from what i understand, revolutionary only gives you s-off from which you can flash a custom recovery (which you also have CWM).

What's your hboot?

What did you do prior? Did you just run revolutionary?

Is HTC sync uninstalled?

flash a rooted stock sense rom first
then use alpharev

you cannot use a custom aosp rom to use these tools

btw that f1 rom is a script kiddies work of copy and paste.
