Help How to take a screenshot on gingerbread?

Isn't there a way to do it natively? Shoot me does work though just has to run in the background to wirk though
 
There is no way to take one natively, you could use ddms in the android sdk to take screenshots. I use the app called "screenshot" (gotta be rooted) and works great.

This app worked well on Froyo but it doesn't work on my 2.3.3 Gingerbead (SGSII). There's many complaints in the Market comments so I'm not the only one.

That's what I've used and it works great. I know some people question why you'd need to take a screen shot of your phone but it's a valuable function.

This works, but holding the power lock makes the shutdown menu appear. It's tricky.

On this phone it seems you have to do a quick hold of the power button and then quickly tap the home key... the menu still comes up, but it will confirm a screenshot was taken and if you were fast enough it won't show the power menu.
