Also one last question..
When you restore a nandroid backup, does EVERYTHING go back to the way it was? Like all the applications, contacts, settings, etc...? The backup saves onto the sdcard, correct?

Loving KH3. Installed the one from intratech's xda thread. It says it is a Frankenstein rom because of the csc region code but the rest is official.

I have zero modem problems with kh3 rom and modem.
Very happy.

I re-rooted using rooted kh3 kernel.

Not sure about what nandroid backs up with regards to apps etc. I backup my apps and settings with titanium.

I also forgot to mention in the data apn for telus I deleted the proxy address and port and noticed a reduction in latency and better data connections.
 
How did you do that nandroid backup? There's no option when I boot into recovery mode for backups or anything like that?
 
ok let me get this right.. since i am noobish, i rooted / flashed and install new rom, and now i cant watch mobile tv. I am assuming its because i have the wrong baseband version?

i have now:
2.3.4
I9100XXKH3
speedmod kernel with Lite'ning 6.1 loaded up. ( xxKH3 build )

This is running really smooth for me except the no live tv. I need to put on a rom in the KG2 baseband to work correctly?

Baseband should not affect that. KH3 modem is running better for me than kg2.

What mobile TV app are you using? The Bell one? I don't think the Lightning rom has this app.

Press clockwork recovery app and boot into recovery. In there use the volume key to navigate down to backup. Select by using home key. There is an option for backup there.

I do it before trying a new rom-just in case :)
 
Yes its the Bell one. I wanted to watch sports at work :P. I tried restoring it from Titanium as well. Just seems to only work with stock rom. I know it works with a rooted kernel and stock rom/modem.

Guess i may be SOL for have this app on a great setup.

actually i need to find the stock CSC bell file. BMCKG2
 
Hmm, I'm must be missing something. I followed the steps and when the phone rebooted I was rewarded with the triangle but it looks like that's all I got from this.

Firmware is still listed as the same version and there are no update options available through kies. Also, when I try to run Titanium Backup I just get a message that it could not aquire root proviliges. New to this so not sure where I went wrong, will try again now.

Ok, I rebooted again and was able to get Titanium Backup running and freeze some apps, but how do I update the firmware to the latest from Samsung? When I login to kies it says I am up to date with version: PDA:KG2/PHONE:KG2/CSC::KG2(BMC)

In my phone settings

Android Verion = 2.3.3
baseband Version = I9100MUGKG2
Kernel Verion = 2.6.35.7-I9100JPKG2-CL342890root@DELL104#2
Build Number = GINGERBREAD.UGKG2

Again, I'm new to this so I apologize for the questions. I am just looking to get the newest firmware from Samsung. Any reply would be greatly appreciated but I think I need to do some more reading.
 
You can get the new rom from here:

To update follow the instructions on the thread to use Odin to update to kh3. You will need to root again which can be done using my link on my first post about rooted kernel.

Just make sure to download the rooted kh3 kernel and not kg2. Rom and kernel version should match.

The exclamation icon is showing because your phone is running a modified kernel. No worries there.

So to make sure I have this straight, the only KH3 options are Frankenstein correct? Which link should I be downloading under XXKH3?

And it would go as follows: 1: Update to new firmware via steps on that thread. 2: Follow your steps to root KH3

Just want to be sure so I don't eff it up.
 
Got the CSC from stock rom but no go.
I am convinced the tv&radio app is LINKED to the stock rom internally somehow.

Gonna give up, and run CM7 for a while.
 
Hello, pls help. I had successfully rooted the from from original and updated to KH3 rom / kernel. When i use galaxy s unlock i get a error at the bottom of the sreen saying " its possible you have a problem with busybox, please install it or fix it."

I used root check and it says i have busybox installed. Any ideas:confused::confused:

Oh i cannot re-install busybox as it is not rooted

Two questions:

1. Did you use galaxy s unlock before you updated to KH3? If so, you don't have to run it again.
2. After upgrading to KH3 did you download a rooted kernel and flash that in odin?
 
Yes i did both of those. i flashed the kernel a couple of times when it didnt work. i also tried to flash back to the Bell rom on xda but it wouldnt go past the boot up screen just kept repeating. Then i reflashed kh3 and the kernal. But the busybox error keeps reappearing...so frustrating.. so close but still so far......BTW THANKS for the quick reply.

A bit confused here. :(

If you already ran unlock app why are you trying to unlock again. There is no need.

Also you said you flashed the rooted kh3 kernel but you also said you are not rooted?

Do you see a superuser app in the app drawer?

BTW if you ever get loops and the phone doesn't boot you should boot into recovery and wipe. Sometimes an issue when going to custom roms or downgrading.
 
I didnt realize that i had to just do the unlock once.. i am very much a noob to all this..I am going to flash stock bell rom wipe and try again.. fingers crossed

Well after a couple of attempts, the stock Bell rom and kernel worked after wiping the phone.. I tried again to load the KH3, rom is good but the kernel was giving me the same problems. So will just make due with the rooted stock rom for now..Till i get the courage to try a diffrent one

hey blue, i have a question.. did you pay for your titanium backup? the free one doesn't allow you to freeze, just delete. just wondering...
