Root how to unroot a gingerbread phone

I got a new DroidX back in March. Everything worked fine, I rooted it and the tether was working great. THEN CAME THAT DAMMMED UPDATE. All is not great anymore. Someone please me take my phone back to it's pre- updated state or do I have to request a new phone? None of my rooted apps work nor can I unroot this beast

SBF the phone after wiping data and cache will take you back to bone stock Froyo. Then you can load the stock GB if you want.

And why would you even consider asking Verizon to replace your device that you rooted?

dunno what you're missing then cuz GB runs circles around froyo any day of the week
