Root How to update rooted phone

Below are a couple of screen shots showing what I'm running on my rooted HTC Evo.



My question is, how do I update my PRL and profile? If I go to Settings-About phone-Software Updates it gives me the option to check for updates. Am I correct in thinking that since this is a rom for a rooted phone that the dev would not allow it to check for an update that would possibly brick the phone?

If this option is simply there but does nothing then how does one go about updating his PRL and profile with this Rom on a rooted Evo?

You can safely update PRL's and profile. The only thing you dont want to update is the actual stock software (OTA's)

I went into Software Updates after doing a Nandroid backup and tried to get it to look for backups. My logic was that I would get the option of downloading it or not and hoped the Dev had only included updates that wouldn't brick the phone. It just sat there working for several minutes and never did anything.

I still can't update my profile or PRL.

newt has not incorporated the ability to update prl and update profile on the rom. You will have to flash a stock rom or MikG to update
