just noticed on my metro ascend if I go to the software upgrade area it has a confirmed screen now but when i go to confirm it said the update package is not detected yet. i know the huawei has in the past sent updates to a link that had to be loaded on a SD memory card so i'm thinking thats how the 2.2 is going to show up that way and maybe soon by the looks of it

So my prediction about the update being through the SD card was correct:D

Yes you're right!!! Before when I went to upgrade via SD card it just said something like package not detected. This is the first time I ever got this other screen. We must be close to getting the upgrade!!!:D

Where are you guys looking for this? Are you going to setting and 'about phone' and checking for 'online update'?

Or is there someplace else I need to be looking?

I have Cricket!

Never mind! I just found it! And it says Upgrade Via SD Card.

And will let me begin now....

Does anyone else have this?

I went to Settings>SD Card & Phone Storage> Scroll Down> Software Upgrade> Upgrade Via SD Card. Then it says the warnings about not to remove the battery etc. Then I click confirm then it says the package isn't detected.

Youre supposed to download it first. But theres no update to download sorry. They would have announced it already. Update hasnt arrived.

Well it seems as though are phones are already to receive the upgrade and Huawei just needs to put the upgrade online for us to download and then put on our SD Cards. They prepared are phones for this we just need them to put it online. I wonder how they will notify us of the upgrade and where to go to download it. At least were almost there!!!:D:D:D

WHAT?! You have the update ? But werent you supposed to download it first?

It doesn't say anything at all about downloading anything.

This is exactly what I am seeing:

>Settings

>SD Card & phone storage

>Software Upgrade

>Upgrade Via SD card

>Warning:

During the upgrade, do not remove the battery or SD card.

Make sure that the battery level is sufficient.

>Cancel (or) >Confirm

I have the same thing on my Metro Ascend. I never had anything there before today. I have looked there before and nothing was there. I have not checked for a few days so I don't know when they DL'd that to the phone.

I will agree Jazz. I also think this is a good sign for those of us with rooted phones, since we both are. They obviously DL'd a package and since we are rooted we got it. It also bodes well for those of us who removed stock Apps.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

not sure about cricket but on metro phones this is something new. before it wouldn't even let us click on the update from sd card now its asking for the update package so i'm thinking its getting close to being released and they are getting the phones ready. i also have noticed that fireware update in my task killer keeps poping up

Stafa...you might want to uninstall the task killer before you run the update.

Just a thought.

True That.

thought about it but its more of a memory boost with a task killer. I have the firmware update blocked from being killed tho

People, the update will be announced formally when it becomes available for download.

Just because you are rooted doesn't mean you will get the update any faster
