Root How To Write a PRL with LGNPST Optimus V

sammyz

LG Whiz Kid
This will work with version 1.2 and version 1.3 of LGNPST

What you need:
LGNPST 1.2/1.3
Virgin Mobile PRL here: VM PRL.zip

Step 0: LGNPST 1.3 is ready to use by following my instructions in my unbrick guide.
Or v1.2 is ready to use by you already having it set up.

Step 1: On the Phone dial ##PORT# SPC is 000000 only if you have unbricked.

Step 1 1/2: Open LGNPST

If you have LGNPST 1.2 skip to Step 3.

Step 2: On the top bar press Tool>Show Only Old UI

Step 3: Choose PRL/ERI

Step 4: Check PRL File
Check Nam1 and Nam2

Step 5: Next to Nam1 click the folder> Select where you extracted the PRL file.

Step 6: Press Start

You're Done!

Curious... I've changed prl several times with qpst and lgnpst takes more then twice as long to write it. No matter I guess... It works anyway.

just was playing with lgnpst some more and discovered that if you use the new UI instead of the old you can use the zv4/zv5 cab files to flash the stock prl. no need for a seperate prl file. whats ERI? it seems to be an option on the prl tab weather on old or new UI.

Main reason was for those who don't have the cab....the cab is a big download..and can't be used to unbrick...this is a continuation to my unbrick guide....and this is the best way for people who have LGNPST 1.2 already installed...

ERI is not used with the OV, but it is used with the Optimus M...

ERI defenition:

ohh ok sorry about that i didnt realize the unbrick thread didnt use the cab file. so i though as a continuation for it most reading this would have the cab and thats just not the case. also thx for the description on ERI. i looked it up after posting this and you beat me back before i could edit my post.

I just went through the whole guide on how to unbrick an optimus v and everything went well until now...My phone is functional but the 3g is no longer working..Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I can text and call people and the wifi works but the 3g icon is not even in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Please HELP!!

I never had to do that part for my OM...it always automatically added those settings once everything else was written, but nonetheless, I will add it.

i could be wrong... i'm just speaking from my experience playing with the sprint radios. if everything is correct but the profiles under m.ip tab you'd have exactly what he said. everything works but 3g. every time i flash a sprint radio it changes the m.ip profiles setup to sprint instead of vmobl and just flashing the virgin radio back dosent restore the profiles. after restoring the profiles i get my full vm service back. soo... its a best guess...

I'm guessing the firmware doesn't know the M.IP tables....I will add it when I get home, after I unpack............

Um AAA and HA keys....how do you obtain those?

....dont know a lot about that part... if they are zeroed we might have a bit of a road block. i know asadullah had a guide on how to obtain them on phones that didnt have them zeroed.... when i flash sprint radios all i ever had to fix was the profiles... something made easy for me since i have a qcn file i just load when i need it

Can you see if there's a way to fix 3G without using your backed up file? I would think that after you went through everything and if it still didn't give you data all you have to do is reactivate with the activate app.

Hmm ok I did some messing around with zvh last night and it killed my data of course. Once I came back to virgin zv9 I tried restoring it manually and didn't have any luck... I'll have to investigate more. Using my qcn file brought it right back

Hmm I'm guessing you need to write HA and AAA, write those yourself manually and tell me if it fixes it. If it does then we have to find a way to obtain these keys or all NV items before starting the unbrick process.

I have version 1.3 of LGNPST. My phone is on COM2.

You didn't say where to put the file, so I placed the prl file inside of the root directory of C:\LG Electronics\ (this is where I also placed the cab and bin files from before).

I dialed what you said on the phone and ticked the box for Development Mode (annoying VM sound ensues).

I opened LGNPST but I do not see my phone there. It's blank like the phone isn't connected.

Have I done something else silly? If so, how do I check LOL

Close QPST completely.

Close QPST completely.

That was it!

Just a suggestion, to add to your already awesome guide... add that in there that they should close all those previous pieces of software down. ;)

And again, awesome guides.. worked flawlessly (aside from my own silliness rofl).

*HUGS Sammy* :p

Now lets see if this thing still crashes. It has no service atm, but I can still use WiFi if I needed. Not sure what the hell happened to it before.
