Lurker
I cannot figure out how to turn off the 4g. There is no wireless and networks settings??

Samsung galaxy victory virgin mobile

There is no wireless networks settings...

Go to Settings. "More Settings" is directly under "Data Usage" in the Wireless and Network options as seen in this screenshot.

Touch "More Settings" then select "Mobile Networks" and then select "Network Mode" You will then see two options: CDMA and CDMA/LTE. To turn off 4G LTE choose CDMA.

Awesome thank u

Another question. When I select cmda it says my phone has to reboot to save settings. So everytime I want 4g or I want to turn it off I need to go through this

Why would you want to turn it off? Data is data on VM "saving" 4G data isnt going to help with anything....

Oh okay I never knew that. I thought it would run all my 4g out and leave me with 3g. Few questions.

1. How do u thank people?
2. Any good wifi tether apps for non root? When I download an app itll say hotspot not supportes
3. When I open the internet tab it brings a new page up everytime. How do I change this? If I switch to txt come back to the internet ut brings up a new page
4. How do I make it so when I have a mesage it says who it is not just 'new message'?

Any help id appreciate thanks

1) A little blue button in the bottom-right of a post that says 'Thanks'.
2) I've always had to root
3) Unsure. Are you long-pressing "Home" to get to the recent apps menu? THat's how you access the app switcher
4) I'm not sure- its the one thing that annoys me on the Galaxy Victory

Im not sure if it is because I am on my phone but it doesnt show a thank u button anywhere. But thanks for the help.

#4- If you go into the default messaging app, in the message list view (not in a conversation) hit the settings button (the leftmost touch button at the bottom of the phone)... select settings, then scroll down till you see the notification settings group, then check the box for preview message. :D:smokingsomb:

Does it use more battery if 4g is always on? I'm not sure but it seems like on my evo v, if I leave 4g on all the time my battery runs out much faster. That phone is Wimax tho. Also I don't always have Wimax coverage so maybe that's part of the problem, it has to spend a lot of time searching. But it seems like this phone (victory) gets great battery life so maybe it's not a problem.

I've never seen tremendous battery drain in areas of 3G/4G coverage, just low-coverage area that has neither one.

I turn mine off as there is a 4G tower a fair way away but just strong enough for the phone to see it and a close 3G tower. If I leave 4G on, I miss phone calls when the 4G drops to 0 bars.
