hows your Battery Life so far....

Yesterday(the first day I had it) it was mediocre at best. But I left it charging over night and this morning when I woke up at 7, I unplugged it. I just had to plug it in right now 10:30 at night and that was after a good amount of use(At least an hour talking, some web browsing, a lot of music listening, a lot of calender work, and some youtube). If it were not for the youtubing, I easily could have gone a lot longer.

Compared to the Evo, the Epic simply blows it away in this category. No complaints especially since I'm sure it's going to get better in the next few days.

So I'm about to kill off my battery because I NEED to charge it in to get some pictures off my phone. I wanna drain it all the way before I start charging though.

Here is what I have left before I start my campaign of battery destruction.

Battery life: 13%

13 hours 54 minutes
since unplugged
3 hours and 24 minutes
of screen on time

Display: 56%
Cell Standby: 23%
Phone Idle: 7%
Android System: 5%
Dungeon Hunter: 3%
Media Server: 2%
Android OS: 2%

Interestingly, I spent 10-20 minutes trying to figure out DLNA via allshare. I finally got it working and streamed a 25 minute long tv episode. That actually only drained my battery by about 5-6%. Screen was off while streaming.

Sent maybe 20-25 texts. Only 1 phone call that didn't last that long at all. Didn't even show up on battery usage.

Oh and I shot about 15 pictures with my camera+flash. Battery life is great if you ask me!

EDIT: I use juice defender. It helps quite a bit, especially when the phone isn't in use.

where do you see the percentage?
I have:
17 hrs 44 m 12s since unplugged
voice calls: 71%
display 16%
cell standby: 7%
phone idle: 5%

mine hit zero percent after about 10 hours yesterday (day 1). i fully charged it when it arrived in the early afternoon. but i spent much of the day customizing my EPIC and learning how do do things on the phone and in new apps. hopefully my EPIC can make it through today, which should be more normal.

you guys should be getting great battery life unless you're constantly on it. the standby time for this device is phenomenal @ 21.3 days!

On my first full charge I took it off the charger @ 4 am and I did not put it back on the charger until 12 midnight and I had 13% battery life left according to "battery gauge". I spent countless hours playing with the phone, calling, texting, email, Facebook, Twitter, etc, etc....Have my brightness set to 90% or so and was amazed at the battery life. I am sure it'll get better too with some Rom when they are released as well.

now that's what i'm talking about! :D

I have not had a good experience so far...
This morning my device powered down after only 5 hours and about 15 minutes after being turned on at a full charge. Upon boot-up it lost about 5% almost instantly.
I probably only had the screen on about half of that total time (2-3 hours), just browsing the web a little and playing a multiplayer game.

Under battery info it said that the display used ~75%, while everything else was about 2-3%. Spare Parts app seems to confirm all this.

I keep the screen brightness as low as possible, have minimal apps syncing, minimal multitasking, I'm not killing apps, blah blah blah.

Should I be concerned? Should I exchange my unit?
My OG Droid could make it a full 8+ hours doing all the exact same things...
Also to reiterate what others have said, this thing takes an eternity to charge, 3+ hours, much slower than I think it should.

I'm with BrickEpic above, I've not had much luck with my battery.

Last night I charged it fully til the blue light came on and a message said unplug the phone - it's charged.
As soon as I unplugged it, my "quick battery" widget reported 97%. I then went to sleep. I woke up this morning and the Battery is at 72%.

"7h 38m since unplugged"
Cell standby 39%
Phone Idle 29%
Display 25%
Android System 4%
Android OS 3%

I have brightness way down, 4G, GPS, etc all off. Only thing on is wireless. But again my phone was off while I slept. Any idea why I've lost nearly 30% of the battery without doing anything?

BTW, I've been doing complete charge cycles for the last 2 days as well, draining to almost 0 before I recharge fully.

Thanks

Just got the Epic for my wife, I have the Evo.
She wanted the keyboard. I havent done any battery tweaking, task killing and the battery seemed to be down from 100% to 75% with in 1.5 hours.

Now that can be from the "learning" phase of the phone like screens wall papers emails ect.

From the preliminary looks of this, it may have a similar battery life of the Evo.

Ill have to be bench marking this week.

Lets hear your experience with the Epic and Battery life.

Its a bit better than EVO but not by much.

I decided to give it a workout today, since I had a weird experience yesterday where Maps and my GPS seemed to get into a fight, and my battery took a huge hit (like half its capacity in about 30 minutes).

I pulled it off the charger at 6:30am, listened to about 90 minutes of Pandora this morning, and spent close to an hour talking on it, as well as the usual email/task stuff. As of nearly 1pm, it's still got half the battery left.

My Pre could never have done that - it would be on fumes right about now.

I bought a dock, and plan to use it at work, but I can't with Pandora right now until they upgrade to 2.2 and enable the audio port. I can obviously plug it in directly, but I wanted to run a few cycles of the battery all the way to drained, and just see what it can do. Right now, I'm quite happy with it.

I used navigation today and it killed 12% battery in 25 minutes. That seemed like a LOT to me. I was a little surprised.

Is there a chance that having the brightness turned down on the SAMOLEDs actually uses more battery? Maybe the batteries arent as good at providing a lower voltage or handling whatever conversion happens when the screen is drawing less power? Most of the posts above that have great battery performance list screen brightness pretty high, while the two worst ones (icemand and brick) have theirs down.

Over the last 2 days its lasted all day, with what I would consider heavy usage, internet and music 7 am to 5 pm, and today its been unplugged for 5 hours and I still have 80% power according to my battery widget, so I think its good for me, but I have the display on the minimum and its still a bit bright for me, that or I have a defective battery widget

I am wondering if I'm overcharging my battery. I've got a car charger and several of the other, simpler types just in case for work and such. I've noticed that the battery goes down pretty fast though, but with excessive app use and downloads, I should have expected that. One thing; I found that I could use the chargers from my old phone with this one to recharge, but an odd thing, when I plug in the older charger, the screen freezes up and doesn't respond. Not sure why that happens.

However, I tend to use around 10% per hour with consistent use, and am, at this time, thinking of getting a spare battery while they're affordable.

Finally got a low battery notification at around 3, after a lot more Pandora, but not as much other usage. That's good enough for me -- I definitely won't use Pandora that much without it being plugged in, since I have a desk job. Like I said, no way could my Pre have lasted through all that. The battery usage said 66% was voice calls, and I was on for a minimum of an hour, possibly longer.

WOW some people's batteries seem to have a lot of extra juice compared to others, including mine. I had a full charge leaving the house at 7am. I turned on Google Maps for about 10 minutes just to check traffic on my way to work. Other than that I checked FB notifications, did a little G-Chatting, maybe posted 5 tweets and scrolled through other peoples tweets and by 9:30am I was down to 47%. I'm not sure whats going on. I don't have 4G or WiFi on. My screen brightness is down to about 10-15%

What do I need to do to have a SUPER Battery like some of you guys?

9H 38m 28s since unplugged

Display 45%
Voice Calls 18%
Cell Standby 18%
Phone Idle 12%
Android system 4%
Android OS 2%

I really hope it gets better. I'll give it some time. I leave at 6:30 in the morning and I'm just now getting off at 4:00pm and my phone just warned me that my battery is low. My old Hero could last until I go to bed with plenty of juice.

I might need to just get an USB cable to plug my phone in while I'm at work.

I'm gonna order another battery soon...so far tho not bad. I'm not the kind of person who is going to power down my phone every time I need to charge it or wait until it's at under 5% before I plug it in.

I used my epic a lot yesterday, but mostly web browsing, playing with new apps, and really just learning the phone. My old number isn't able to port :( So only a few texts and a couple phone calls..too early to make an accurate estimate on my battery but, it did last about 9 hours before reaching 15% but very little talk time and texting.

Today I'm paying a bit more attention.. It's only been unplugged for 1hr 8mins Voice calls 63% Display 24% Standby 8% Android System 2% Idle 2% and I'm at 85% battery.

4G is always on, My brightness is at the lowest setting, downloaded a couple apps and played around with em, web browsing and installed a couple live wallpapers and have been using it for the last hour (Droid X eye and Droid 2 Eye), Played around with sprint TV for 15 minutes, made 1 phone call that was 14:37 mins, 4 texts.

Looks like it'll last me throughout the day and I'll do a short edit when I go to plug it in, but it's not looking like the battery that other people are claiming. Charger + extra battery in the near future.

Just got a low battery warning. Here are the stats:

6h 30m 41s since unplugged

Voice calls - 81%*
Display - 10%
Cell Standby - 5%
Phone Idle - 4%

*I don't really talk much but spent about 90minutes on the phone today.
Also the phone was in a bad reception area for about 3 hours.

[Update]
I went to Sprint store today and they checked my battery and said it appears to be fine. They recommended I wait for a week, and if I'm still having problems to bring it in for replacement.

I'm going to try increasing the screen brightness and keep normal things turned on (ie 4G on occasion) and actually use the phone more to see if activity helps shape this thing up. I noticed the people who have good battery life are the people using their phone the most. Go figure...

Here's hoping everyone.

I let it drain all the way to dead yesterday, then charged it fully. I have to say, so far, the battery is lasting longer than my Instinct. So, for me, it's an improvement on my previous phone, and that's a big plus. But it's also good battery life in general.

I would like to go from morning to night without having to recharge, and I am quite happy so far. I charge my phone overnight every night, so that is all I expect - a full day's life.

By "let drain all the way" do you mean that your phone shut down completely and then you charged it from "0%" or did you start charging it once you get the "low battery" warning?

Thanks

I'm not sure if i should be worried, but I unplugged the phone last night at 11pm and have used the phone heavily since. (phone, text, browser, downloading apps) and i'm at 80% right now.
I unplugged the phone 19 hours ago!!

The first two days the battery life was awful, it was really bad. I was losing 10% pre hour. I wasn't even using it much. Suddenly the 3rd day I'm at 41% after unplugging 13 hours ago. I used the phone a ton today for calls, which is what really surprised me. About 2 hours in voice time. Not sure if the battery had to calibrate or what. The entire time I had 4g turned off, screen timeout 30 seconds (with auto set), wifi turned off. One thing I did change was the wallpaper to something slightly darker, but it's only slightly darker. The first two days I charged until full, then let it get to the warning level and recharged. I'm impressed with how well it's done with semi-heavy calling today, I would've already switched batteries on the Touch Pro by now. I bought one of those Chinese batteries/chargers from eBay yesterday thinking it would be a necessity to get through a day but now I'm not so sure. Sorry I don't have specs to post, ran out of time.
