Root Hroarkernel 1.2

no its ext4, if you read this thread, you will see why i say that

but i had it set as ext2, did a factory wipe, and then mini tools said it was ext3...

i just tried to create an ext4 but then link2sd said mount script error. i saw some people say l2sd worked on ext4 and some people say it didn't....should it?

yeah i'm sorry dood, its the exact same thing you went over. my bad.:(

i certainly shouldn't argue with some one who know much more about the topic than i do, forgive the rookie mistake, won't happen again.:o

no prob, thanks for taking the time to read

Is there any improvesments or additions to the kernal itself?

yes I added mount, lines in the init.rc for ext4 partitions, so you convert your system, data or cache partitions to ext4, they will mount

I am running ShabbyMod 0.9 on top of ext4 right now, and it seems pretty good

i want to maybe get some people to test running on ext4 and see if they get better performance or battery life or what not

IMPORTANT UPDATE

...

DOWNLOAD HROARKERNEL 1.1 and CWM
1. Download and unzip the hroarkernel_1_1.zip file.
2. Download EE14 Fix stick.zip and copy to sdcard (if you need it)
3. Install the Samsung USB drivers (if you don't already have them)
4. Put phone in Download Mode by holding Vol down, Camera Button, and Power button until the Yellow Downloading message appears
5. Plug phone into USB port
6. Open Odin, you should see a yellow box with a com number
7. Select SPHM820.ops in the OPS box
8. Put a check in One Package
9. Select the hroarkernel_1_1.tar file in the One Package box
10. Click Start

i believe all these 1.1's should say 1.2

any chance we could get:

1. a change log
2. a zip that can install from sd in CWM

you may also want to make a note somewhere in your 1st or 2nd post, reminding everyone that you shouldn't rely on PC software to verify what kind of partition you have on your sd card, until we find one that actually works

that way it doesn't appear that anyone is "arguing" with you

his works fine

I converted all my partitions to ext4 and i am testing it

that changes a lot of things when you are dealing with scripts

that use mounts statements

if it turns out ext4 works really good, i will release something

I have another question about this new update. There is no odin update in the file. Is it ok to use the older odin update ? on step 7 where you say Select SPHM820.ops in the OPS box, there is no SPHM820.ops file included. If I ignore it and leave it blank and put a check in One Package and select the hroarkernel_1_2.tar file in the One Package box and try to start it it I get an error message. I am lost and dont know what to do. Also there are boot and recovery files in this zipfile what are those for ? Do I need them what do I do with them ? Last question once I do this and format ext4 can I use titanium back up to reinstall ALL the files/apps and data I had ? Thanks again for the help.

the SPHM820.ops is the same

the SPHM820.ops is the same

But what are the boot and recovary files for ? Also if I use titiaum backup to recover all my apps and data will any of the previous system settings disrupt the way cwm and link2sd set up the partition ? Thanks again for help

i just uploaded a new version today, you should always check the OP for updates, the new version has all the files you need

leave the boot and recovery files alone

titiaum backup should be fine

Awesome! Jnstalled 1.2 Last Night, created an EXT4 partition using CWM and installed Link2SD. Moved almost all my apps, except the REAL system apps. Uninstalled SD Speed Boost. Running Great.

Thanks, hroark! Great Job!

Has anyone been having problems zipping simplegreen 3.0? I have. It doesn't install correctly.

Sorry it works. I think I had to install the zip 4 times before it worked....
