Root Hroarkernel 1.2

No, but does it still serve an purpose? I read posts that say you do not need it after an SD partition. What does everyone thing about this?
The sd boost sets the read ahead of the sd card, not for apps and such but for pic and other things on the sd card, so unless the cache is set higher naively then its better to keep it.
That is another thing I would like to see built into the kernel some time.

Hmm I thought everything was ok. I reinstalled about 30 or so apps and link2sd keep creating links as i was reloading the apps. As I get to the last few apps I am noticing that the internal memory is also getting lower with each installed app. I open up link2sd and it shows me all the apps that are linked. So I am assuming everything is doing its job. Than I get to my fav. app which is also my largest app. Link2sd came up with some kind of partitioning error, and would not let me reinstall the app. A short while latter all of my internal memory is gone. It seems as though everything was working properly and the apps were being mounted to the sd card and linked to phone but it seems like they were really sitting somewhere inside using internal memory. Anybody else had a similar problem ? Any advice anybody can offer ?

well I dont care for it anyway. I had more apps and more free space doing it my way. Im going back to that.

My way is quite simple, install your apps as you normally would, if you do lots and lots you may want to break this up into sections.

you put the apps on then using a file manager that has root permission, I use root explorer and am not familiar with the others, move the apps from /data/app to /system/app reboot and then wipe davlik-cache then reboot again

Do you get involved with partioning you sd card on the pc or with cwm ?

I partitioned it with cwm.
however there is no need to partition it if your not using link2sd or darktremor scripts.
I think I am going to leave it partitioned for the time being, see if darktremor will work soon.

I tried creating my link2sd partition as ext4 since this kernel supports it, but link2sd wouldnt accept it - it gave the mount error and told me to use fat32. I have this kernel installed (with cwm). Is there something I'm doing wrong?

create partition in cwm, then format it (sd-ext) in cwm in the mounts and storage menu

Thanks, Optimus. I am also giving your way a try. I think I got some benefit from using Link2SD, but it did seemed like the math did not always work out that I had more available memory. I have not had any problems with 1.2 or the new CWM partition and at one time I had almost all my apps running in it.

I was having some annoying problems with Market telling me that I had apps that could be updated, but they had already updated. I am not sure what to blame on this, but possibly LinK2SD.

Now I am running almost all my apps as system and have 90MB free. Of course, the ROM is almost full. I uninstalled Link2SD and App2SD and reinstalled SD Boost. No app is set to run from the SD. Thought I would give it a shot for a little while to see how it runs.

I still have the EXT4 partition, but I guess it is empty.

Also, I did a factory wipe from CWM. Added benefit is that my apps came back since they are "system" apps.

And....The Market problem is fixed. I used Titanium Backup to move them to system after they updated instead of using the option to incorporate update in the system app. Market seems to be happy for now.

May not leave it like this for long, but who knows.

I am having a problem and was wondering if anyone could help. I formatted the second partition as per the instructions and formatted it with CWM to make it ext4 and everything was successful. The problem is, when I use link2sd to link all of my apps to the second partition, everything goes fine until I power cycle the phone. Once it reboots, all of the apps that were linked are gone and I end up having to uninstall then reinstall them to get them back. Not sure if it's an issue with link2sd (even though it gives an option for selecting ext4) or what.

It sounds like you have a really slow sd card. That's all I can think of. It used to happen to me with the normal apps to sd. You could try rebooting again, dismounting the sd card, then remounting it. As far as I know, there's no fix if your card is slow.
What class is your sd card?

What do you mean by "class"? I have have an 8GB micro sdhc memory card if that's what you mean.

class is the speed of the sd card

you want class 10 if you can get it, the faster the card the faster the apps on it will run

you should try a different sd card and see if you have the same problem with it

How do I figure out what class my card is? Tried googling it but I come up with a bunch of different answers and can't make heads or tails of the info.

Update: I figured out my cards class. It's a class 4. Is that good, bad or in the middle?

that kinda slow

Is there any way to verify that you are running hroarkernal?

adb shell
cd /lib/modules
ls

if you have the modules that are in bold, you are running it, those are the modules I added that are needed for ext4 support

sec_param.ko
fsr_stl.ko
rfs_glue.ko
jbd2.ko
ext4.ko
dhd.ko
rfs_fat.ko
hotspot_event_monitoring.ko
fsr.ko

Hroark,
Your Kernal supports closing the back door that Boost uses ,Right!?!?
I thought that you did reply to that earlier but ,I cant find it?
Thank you!

if you can remberer a while back. Shabby had a test kernel in which he diasbled that service, I built my kernel on top of that kernel, so that service should not start
