Root HTC 4G for sprint on other networks?

csracing

Lurker
I'm considering dropping Sprint and going to one of the low cost unlimited companies (airfire, boost etc). My phone is rooted already, but I'm curious if the 4G can be used on GSM networks? If I'm reading the Airfire info right, they use GSM.

I did search for what it's worth, but didn't come up with anything. If this has been covered before, I apologize.

The HTC EVO 4G is a CDMA phone therefore it cannot be used on any GSM provider. You can flash it to Boost, which is owned by Sprint. Also, it can be flashed to MetroPCS, Cricket and a few others.

I flashed mine to Boost and now I am not tied down to any contract. Just know that Boost is using Sprint service so the speeds will be the same (Mine are awful at my house but I use wifi most of the time). No 4G if you flash it to Boost

I also have a rooted Evo 4g that I want to switch to Straight Talk. I already have service with them and love the non contract service with great prices. Is there a guide that can help me to do this?

thanks. I hadn't been able to find anything myself, so I figured if anyone would know it would be here. I found plenty of folks who have it, and will do it for a good chunk of change.

Thanks as always :)
