Pretty sure the hole is for the notification LED and the square is the proximity sensor.

Whether you need them cut out on a screen protector though is open to debate.

Right after I posted that I saw my LED blink and twigged why there are holes there

But as you say, why does the LED need a hole, likewise for the light-sensor. Anyway, it protects and goes on easy.

I have found that, on occasions, since using the Martin Fields screen protector, the proximity detector didn't turn the display back on after I took the phone away from my ear. I think I'd prefer to put up with this occasional problem rather than having two holes in the screen protector.

Hi Guys My ZAGG Invisible Shield arrived yesterday. I applied it at 7pm Last Night. Took me about 2 hours! Anyway, it says to leave it for 12-24hours for all the bubbles to dissapear. It's now been 12hrs and you can see the pics in the flickr stream below. ZAGG Invisible Shield HTC Desire 12hrs I'm not very impressed at all! It was a bitch to apply, especially the corners and smaller pieces. It looks absoloutley terrible at the moment and if it still looks like this tomorrow, i'm ripping the thing off! Unless a miracle happens, which I cannot see happening. Anybody else used one of these and got a good result? I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions perfectly, even watched the installation video before starting.

I ordered this the other day.

Quite expensive but it is a very good case and I was really happy with until this morning...

As a bit of an experiment, I ordered
1
this one to see the quality difference.

The second one came this morning and it is EXACTLY the same one!!

I am preparing to send the expensive one back as I type!

try this link for cheap one:

HTC DESIRE FITTED HYDRO GEL CASE SMOKE BLACK UK 100% on eBay (end time 16-Jun-10 16:10:51 BST)

Lol, well at least you didn't pay that much for a nexus one case that was supposed to be for the desire from mobilefun! I've since also got one from ebay for

Well my ToughGuard shell fell apart this morning, not so tough , so I bought a Hard Gel case in sort of a smoked colour for a fiver, and it's far superior, it first, it's not likely to come off and looks the business for saving the phone chassis from my general clumsiness.

I'm waiting until big names like casemate come out with PROPER protective cases. In the meantime I'm using a nice snug pouch I bought on eBay, complete with android image for use fangirls and boys.

OEM Neoprene Case Pouch For HTC Desire Bravo G7 Android on eBay (end time 21-May-10 07:31:03 BST)

Super cheap pouch, thin neoprene, nice snug fit. It's a really great temporary (read: couple of months) solution when my phone knocks around my pockets or purse. If you're not happy with any of the "maybe, but..." posts here, wait it out like I am and get this awesome little pouch.

Really, it has the android dude on it. That should be all you need to sell it to you. ;)

Just thought I'd post. I got a Vikuiti DQC-160 (one of the first few results on amazon search of "htc desire screen covers")

it does the job great of protecting the screen and the outer black glass. :D

Also got the U-bop slipSLEEVE case. That's also pretty good. Fibre interior and leather exterior and doesn't add much bulk at all. Would definetly recommend.

Update - 36hrs:

Some of the bubbles have now disappeared, but too many remain for my liking, sure it's gonna protect the desire, but it feels like it's wrapped in cling film, really takky. Contacted ZAGG who told me to leave it for a week for the other bubbles to disperse, but I cant see it happening. I have torn the damn thing off and my phone feels soooo nice again.

I would not recommend this piece of shit to anyone...

The bubbles do go and it does get better. But it is mote sticky than the case it covers.
What won't go is any dust.
Also, you can scratch the protector, and the scratch reduces over time.

I'm still in two minds on keeping this on. But as it lives in my pocket and I have not found a case I would accept yet, I guess it is doing a good job atm.

I have the original nexus pouch in this style and put some flickr links to it on page 8...recommend it too! Snug fit.

Seller called oman666 on ebay sells absolutely great cases. I've got one myself, was just under a tenner.

eBay My World - oman666

You can also search in ebay "HTC Desire Leather Flip Cases"

They come in pink, black, and grey (although Pink may be sold out by this user as I did a search earlier and couldnt see any in his store)

The case itself though has all the camera/speaker cutouts etc, only one its missing is a hole for the battery charger, but thats no biggie. The case feels nice, has a soft suede material on the inside, and a perfectly fitting case to hold the phone in it securely so you dont have to take it out.

What more could you want?

Erm, an actual Desire case, rather than a Nexis One case? I too ordered from this seller, and whilst the case was lovely quality, it was plainly for a Nexus One, as the plastic didn't curve up at the bottom and the volume cutout was in the wrong place, the packet was labelled "Desire" but it isn't! Sellere didn't question my refund request either...

Just ordered one of those covers myself, not really liking the idea of a two piece case, as they all seem to pop apart at the crucial moment, when it hits the ground!

Gonna get me a Zagg screen protector too, don't see the need for a full Zagg kit with that case...

Mike

Cheap case received today, and it's perfect!

Fits snugly and protects the phone weel, just need a decent screen protector now - Bargain for

Bought the exact same cover and a screen protector from the same seller. The cover fits perfectly and (after a few goes, my first try at fitting one) so does the screen protector.

Very happy with both and all for only
