HTC Desire HD Battery Life??

I've been trying to condition the battery since I got it and it seems to be having some effect.

Currently got 65% battery left after 22hrs on, wifi, 3g and gps have been on for at least 21hrs.

so far 24% has been the screen, 30% on the dialer, 17% wifi, 13% standby and 12% maps.

I've been visiting the folks this weekend and I get a much better signal there than I do here... shows what a difference that can make.

Just to add my notes as I'm looking at mine again. Some days it seems to run fine, others is terrible with no real difference in anything I do.

At the moment, I took it off an overnight charge this morning at 7am and then after 14minutes on battery and 7minutes on screen, it dropped to 92%, was almost dropping before my eyes

Currently in work and showing

1hr 42 on battery
Display - 53%
Wi-Fi - 7%
Android System - 7%
Dialer - 6%
Bluetooth - 6%
Cell Standby - 6%
Voice calls - 5%
MessageCS - 4%
Phone idle - 4%
Android OS - 2%

and battery on 84%. Made one quick call and a few texts. Can see me charging off PC before day is out in here

Thats awful :( Not used my phone a lot and I'm cruising to 2 days worth after it being on 1d 1h 46m with 52% remaining with:
Display - 20%
Dialer - 19%
Android System - 16%
Cell Standby - 15%
Phone Idle - 14%
Voice Calls - 10%
WiFi - 5%
Bluetooth - 1%
Screen On time is 59 minutes.

This for me is where rooting and custom ROMS come into their own. I know its not to everyones tastes and its too daunting for others but as the SAS say, "Who Dares Wins".

Comparitively toward stuarta who has used his phone for very little its a drastic improvement, simple call and a few texts should not see 84% unless his screen has been left on since he unplugged it. Nothing del boy about it. I can have my phone screen on time for 5 hours, with a film watched, Bluetooth on and music played for my hour commute time, using Daily Raods Voyager to video record said journeys, sync'ing every hour, data always on, and wifi enabled at home, taking pictures and videos for anything between a quick snapshot and 15 minutes long of my children, and bang between 22h and 1d1h on most days owing to the fact I can change my CPU usage and pick the type of governer that works best for me thanks to being rooted, as well as my experience of the many different battery calibration cycles/techniques/apps etc. suggested over our devices life cycle so far.

I've justified myself without needing to and have experience of both sides of the fence. Just curious as to what ROM your running or have used that gives you a balanced view of the situation and what your experiences were when rooted that made you change back because of the fantastic experience of stock firmware and its provision of battery life? Which in turn would give you authority to deride my contribution to this thread with such disdain?

I think there's been a misunderstanding. I believe the "Del Boy" comment referred to your own "Who Dares Wins" one. It was one of Mr Trotter's favourite bon mots. :)

Quite possible and if ND wants to clarify thats fine. But combined with the latter half of the post I couldn't help but get a hint of sarcasm. I'm willing to retract said statement should I be misguided in my presumption.

ok seems to be about the same this morning, 4% lost in 4mins while just checking Facebook.

Current stats after 15mins on Bluetooth in car, 1 call off bluetooth and text to SWMBO

Display - 23%
Android System - 15%
Voice Calls - 14%
Bluetooth - 11%
Cell Standby - 7%
Phone idle - 6%
Wi-Fi - 6%
Dialer - 3%
Android OS - 3%

1hr 20min on battery. Screen brightness on 'u' under automatic and 30s timeout

My battery is absolutely woeful. I have a spare which I use when I go out (with comparable life span) and if I'm going far I take my old iPod so I'm not relying on the music player. For the most part tho I have a charger at work and two chargers placed strategically at home, and I can live with it.

Getting bit fed up myself. I've been a bit stupid this morning and actually USED my phone. Been on battery for 38m. In car for 20mins with bluetooth connected, quick 2 min phone call. about half a dozen texts sent and facebook status updated with friendstream.

display = 54%
bluetooth = 11%
voice = 8%
wifi = 5% - although not connecting
android sys = 5%
dialer = 5%
android os = 3%
Idle = 3%
MessageCS = 2%
handscent SMS = 2%
Calendar 2%

Battery currently sat on 78% and regretting not bringing charger with me.

My missus Desire S in comparison, noticed last weekend on Saturday she was on 95% left. Asked when she last charged it and apparently it was Thursday!!! I lose 5% in 5mins if I try and do anything. She can sit there all night playing solitaire and use hardly any battery, mine would be dead if I tried the same.

So frustrating. Great phone just such bad bad battery unless just something on mine.

Only advice that has worked for me is to delete your HTC Sense account. But even still battery doesn't compare to what I was used to on my old Blackberry Torch.

Just wondering if some of my problem is network related and if possible.

Tested this morning with leaving house at 100%, turned Bluetooth off. Arrived at work 30mins later, picked phone up and at 93% and 2 bars. Not sure obviously what it was while I'm driving but that was at 8am and now and 11:30, it's still showing 88% so not dropped much since.

When she is sitting next to you try speaking to her instead of texting or phoning. You will be amazed how much battery that saves :D

Everyone kind of knows that the battery in this phone is underpowered therefore it's been not brilliant from the start and HTC knows this. It also depends on how near to an aerial mast you are etc etc.

Had mine for 13 months now. It drains in 45 minutes.

Reboots whenever I try to make a phone call or use the camera.

I can get off about 7 texts on a full charge before it'll shut off and reboot.

The other day on a full charge on lunch. I was able to move some app. short cuts around while listening to music for about 45 min before 6% low battery warning came up.

Guessing my battery is dead. Question is would buying a "new" battery fix it ?

I'm thinking it would but its not very easy to find a place to buy a new battery for this phone.

For the 1st 13 months though, I would get about 6-8 hours of off the charger time before it would need to be charged up again.

Just my input on my DHD. :cool:

edit/update: Just ordered a new battery from a company in China off of eBay for $10 ... probably take about 2 weeks if I'm lucky to get to me. Will update then.

I don't get how some people only manage 8 hours on a charge. With pretty standard use, I'd easily get 50+.. maybe that's because I have WiFi and 3g off unless I need it, and have everything set to sync at the most spread out intervals...

I have got it a month back, the battery is not good and the reason is the large screen, but still i can made a full day passed with a few msgs, calls & gaming. Still looking for a second battery or some other option is available....

More woes for me. Just removed my HTC sense accounts in case they were draining mine and restarted. Nice to see battery dropped from 49 to 16 on restart.. Especially when partner has her desire s beside me on 79 and not been charged since Thursday :mad:
