They probably realised there's going to be quite a high demand for this phone. I can't see HTC keeping quiet about this, they should be throwing their weight behind the ads stating that this is going to be 'the next-gen phone' or something like that...

thanks for the reply, but one other thing.

I went to Play.com and they have the Desire up for 439 pounds. When i click on the euro sign to see how much it would cost where i am it goes to a whopping 571 euros! A direct conversion should be just below 500 euros not 571.

Or do they charge for shipping? On expansys shipping is only 11 euros. Looking at play.com its well over 70.
 
I've never dealed with them myself, but I have seen it mentioned several times, and I've not seen anyone comment negatively. But it's not personal experience, so ymmv.
