Well-Known Member
So I found this rom called Cool3D AveS v5 Bravo and tried installing many of times.
I Have Clockwork Recovery 5.something.
I downloaded the files it shows off of off-site websites because MULTIUPLOAD is down.
I've installed the ROM,
Stock_hboot.zip ,
GSM-CDMA zip file
and I've even tried the Alignment_Cool.zip (which I tried twice out of the 10 times I did this.)
I have US CELLULAR CDMA HTC DESIRE
Here is the LINk to the website for this rom
Remember I HAVE ALL THE NEEDED FILES. I got them OFF-SITE!!
Cool3D AceS v5 Bravo | Cool Devs
Please help me install this rom in DETAILS!!!!
I cant understand the site at all.
Maybe one of you can

Perhaps you could be explicit in your detail? If you could list the steps you took in order with file names please. Also what did you use to partition sd card.

Also, what is the actual issue?

Okay ill try that... And let you know what happens. Thanks. But the Problem I was having after I installed all of those files, was the HTC LOGO. I let it sit for 20 minutes and nothing... So ill test that out.

and how much should I partition...

The experts on here (I'm not one) spend an enormous ammount of time helping others & give their advice freely but first you have to help yourself. Have read through the http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/503471-desire-all-things-root-guide.html

Partioning sd cards (Gparted recommended) is covered in http://androidforums.com/desire-all...artitions-updated-10th-august-2011-a.html#”1”

Instructions for installing a ROM are here http://androidforums.com/desire-all...-rooting-updated-11th-november-2011-a.html#26

When you have read all that you will probably find you already have your answers but advice might be a little more readily given.

I know how to Install roms and partition my SD card. I read over the F&Q and I cant find anything on this rom. I did all of that. The rom will not boot!

my android has no rom on it. Thats why this is important to me!!!! Please help me install this?

You really should take a nandroid backup before flashing a ROM - that way if something goes wrong you can have your phone working again in a couple of minutes.

This isn't the first new Sense ROM I've met recently that doesn't suggest an ext partition size. But those that do generally recommend 1GB, so I'd try that. Details of partition scheme (order of partitions etc) are otherwise as in the root memory faq (linked from Nicka3200's post above).

I partitioned my SD card the RIGHT way... and it still wont work! :( Can someone just PLEASE put instructions ON HOW to install this!!! None of you are helping me! and I cant help myself If I DONT know how to do this!!!

Bear in mind that none of the people who've replied own CDMA devices, so none of us will have performed the installation you are attempting.

The truth is that I would expect that the procedure is to flash the ROM zip, then the stock hboot zip, then the GSM-CDMA convertor zip. But the last 2 could be the other way round, or it might make no difference - the only thing I can be sure of is ROM first. But this sounds like what you have done. So assuming that you wiped the device before flashing, and that your partition is OK, it's not obvious what the problem is.

So maybe if you tell us exactly what you are doing to install the ROM, what your card's partitions are (all of them - there should only be 2, but the order matters), how you partitioned the card (using GParted, recovery, or some Windows utility?), perhaps someone will be able to spot a problem?

If you look at my post you will see an answer: to flash the ROM zip first, then the other 2 (and I don't know in what order). Also wipe the phone before flashing, but you did say that you know how to install ROMs so I shouldn't need to add that.

If that doesn't work, and you are sure your partitions are correct, then I can only suggest what Tyseyh says and find a ROM that does work on your device, or ask the ROM developer whether there are any known compatibility problems with USC devices.

But as I said before, if you want help then it really will help if you tell us what you are doing, in detail.

Liam - try doing what has been suggested before we can help you (see above). We're not just ignoring your requests, we need you to tell us in a systematic way what you've done so far to help us identify the apparent errors which you are suffering from.
The guides and faqs which have been created and compiled by the experts here give you clear instructions on what to do. If you're using these guides and coming stuck, you need to explain which stage etc. The more detailed info you provide, the more responsive people will be in helping you.
Just ignoring the requests and repeating for a guide and "help" will not get you too far.

What computer do you use?

For Windows there is an md5 checking utility in the toolbox thread ("useful downloads" in my sig - there is a download uid/password, check for posts by Rastaman and use the most recent version). On linux or mac it's easy: "md5sum filename" on linux or "md5 filename" on mac, just typed into a terminal.

What all of these do is return a code, which you should compare to the one given on the ROM page under the download link. If the codes match, the file is OK.
