Hi, my htc desires screen got mucked up yesterday. I keep the phone in very good condition inside a gel case etc etc. However i pulled it out my pocket and there was a huge white bar across the left. Hence i Just turned it off and thought i'd give HTC a ring in the morning. In the morning upon turning my phone on the whole screen had gone purple and moments later the screen just went totally black.
Clearly the Amoled display had a crack. However it's clear there is no external damage!
Either way i rang up HTC who said i have to send the phone in etc etc. However my phone IS Rooted and that voids the warranty. Which just seems like total BS to me since it clearly wasn't a software issue. I also asked Orange upon purchasing the phone if rooting was okay and they said it was totally up to me. I did get the woman on the phone to send me a text saying that which i saved on my phone. However now that my phone doesn't have a functioning screen i can retrieve the text.
Are HTC within their rights to charge me for the new screen then? I do have 3rd party insurance too but i'm worried that may be voided byt he rooting too!
also if i had to pay, how much would it cost?
