Root HTC Desire slow after ROOT and video camera doesn't work

Rooted my phone few weeks ago, was working well. I then had to reflash the recovery due to some issues. I flashed CM7 but didn't really have the time to set up how I like it so I restored my stock htc sense version 2.3.3. My phone is now very slow HTC sense restarts a lot programs crash quite a bit and the video camera doesn't work. taking pictures is fine but taking video doesn't work. I dont want to factory restore becasue it take sages to set stuff up. Any ideas on how i can fix this?
Android Version:2.3.3

Network:Orange
Taskiller Used?:NONE
[Optional]Are You rooted & which Rom: Rooted. Stock HTC Sense ROM

Restroing from the Nandroid fixed the lag but if I open the camera and select video recorder it still doesn't record anything. If I then exit the camera app the phone starts to become slow and lags. Any ideas?

Cheers

you say you had to reflash the recovery "due to some issues" what were they?
what recovery are you using?

whats the radio version on this device?

Hi these are them issues: http://androidforums.com/desire-all...ated-11th-november-2011-a-11.html#post3392576 (read my posts)

The radio is: RADIO-5.17.05.23
And the recovery is ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0.

Cheers

so you didnt flash the recovery like advised, we do not use any other recoveries than the 2.5.0.7 or amonRA 2.0.1 due to issues.

unfortunately if you are not willing to wipe the device i cant be certain what your problem is

if you really dont want to you could try the following.
Flash one of the above recoveries using fastboot.
do a backup using the recovery (if amonRA do backup+ext if you have an ext partition)
factory reset the device from recovery and boot

see if it all works.

if you find after the wipe everything works then its likely something youve done in the rom like used titanium backup to restore some system apps or data that has corrupted the rom.

1st things 1st, get off that recovery

OK, il flash 2.5.0.7, but can you link me to some instructions on how to do this using fast boot?

Cheers

See this FAQ on ADB and Fastboot. Although I haven't tried it myself it seems the best easiest option is to use 'Android Flasher' (see 'How do I use Fastboot' in the FAQ). You can get Clockwork Recovery Mod 2.5.0.7 on this page.

I'm no expert but from everything I've read, not doing a full wipe when switching between some ROMS can cause issues. I know setting everything up again is a pain but it might ultimately be your only choice.

there are guides
i would advise you to check your erase size before flashing 2.5.0.7 as if you are on a 40000 device the only recovery you should use is amonRA
the command to check erase size is in the root guide

Ok i've flashed the 2.5.0.7 recovery and factory reset the phone and the video camera still doesnt work...any ideas?

yes
im guessing youve checked you were on a 20000 erase size by using the guides?

if you are still having an issue now try flashing a different radio. make sure you check the md5 before you flash as a corrupt radio flash can brick a device.

Once again thanks for the response.

The erase size is 20,000 and yes looks like I'm going to have to flash a radio. A few things though i want to install a ROM that allows for full a2sd as I'm fed up with running out of space. I found two that I'm interested in CM7 and Supernova. At the moment i think im gonna go with supernova as its pretty much stock but has full a2sd and i think il get CM when its based on ICS.

Supernova recommends the radio i already have (but says others can be used) so if i leave it like that will i have problems with the camera? Or can i flash an older radio then flash the newer one? Or is it justbest to flash an older one and leave it at that?

Cheers

Personally id flash your new rom (after wipe of course) and see if your video camera works. Each rom is different and no point messing with radios if you dont have to. If it still misbehaves then maybe thats the next step

I flashed an older radio and it didn't fix it so reflashed the latest one and that didn't work either. Think I'm going to flash gingerburst ROM and see how that goes. Cheers for the info and advice.
