Help HTC Desire Z camera flickering

peox

Lurker
Hello,
My camera make a flickering (2sec period) when I open default camera app on my HTC Desire Z (not Rooted). The screen just keeps going black and then back to the camera screen and then black... and you can occasionally quickly press the capture button and it does take the occasional picture but it doesn't show it to you and just keeps going between the black screen and the camera screen. It's seems like that camera take a pictures without saving after every 2 sec. I don't understand what to do! I remove some latest app, no results. It's still make a flickering after and after.

Android version
2.2.1
Software number
1.82.405.1

Any suggestion!?
many thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post, and/or reply,
regards
Edis

Welcome to Android Forums!

All I can suggest is a factory reset (Menu/Settings/Privacy), but this will wipe all data and apps in internal memory so ensure contacts etc are backed up beforehand. If the problem continues after a reset then you should contact the supplier for advice on warranty repair/replacement, as this suggests it's not a software issue.

This started happening on my nexus s today for some reason. It stopped the moment I turned off include location data. At first I thought it was hardware but it happens on both front and back cameras.

ecoman: I have an HTC Incredible S from Bell Canada running Gingerbread and turning on Latitude was the solution for me too!

That has got to be one of the WEIRDEST fixes I have ever encountered.

Thanks so much for the help folks! Now to reinstall the programs which I thought were the culprits because they were the last ones I had installed (Google Translate app and a manual install of the new Market apk)

Thank you very much.
This week I hade the same problem and couldn't know how to fix it.
Latitude solved the problem! Thank you!

Hi,

I am using HTC Inspire 4G fro At&t. I am having similar problem of camera flickering. How do I turn ON my latitude application as suggested above?

If you don't have a Latitude shortcut in your app drawer, open Maps and in the menu will be an option to "Join Latitude". In the most recent version of Maps it's in the "More..." sub-menu so if you don't see it right away keep looking. ;)
