HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

What would happen if you don't do a factory data reset?

Reason I ask is that I updated to version 3 but didn't do this step. Nor did I do it upgrading to v2. Am I missing something? Do you think it might not installed properly?

I think that while intentions were good, there were certain steps that may not have been totally necessary or at the least, not necessary going from one leak to the next.

The bottom line is it cannot hurt following the instructions to the letter. ;)

I stopped in my local Verizon store this morning and I asked the technician "Have any idea when OTA 2.1 will be out and he said what basically everyone is saying....until they iron out some issues and I showed him my phone. He said "Oh you have 2.1 on it and you have voided your warranty, I did the same thing too but don't worry, when the official OTA 2.1 comes out I'm sure Verizon or someone will post it. So I took a look at the HTC Incredible to see what version software is on it. I took a picture and here it is:

Any one else have the battery be fully charged then take it off the charger and instantly go to 50% or maybe its just my charger?

Nope, don't have that issue. Could be your charger. Test this with another miniUSB cable. If not, then I dunno.

Someone did mention that their phone would deplete to zero in a matter or minutes. I wish there were something that checked the overall health of your battery to determine with it has lost its capacitance or not.

Please help....

I am trying to root...and do the volume down and power...it comes up with a screen with HBOOT highlighted, but it doesn't show a progress bar or anything...how do I know that in fact is loading the PB img? Thanks.

I hope your not trying to root with the v3 leak. Cuz that's not gonna work. Look in all things root for a better place to start.

so right now i have v2 with root on my eris. To switch to v3 do i have to delete v2 off my phone? If so how? Can i just delete the zip file?

Alright, the only problem I seem to be having is with the browser.

1. Pinch Zoom, sometimes it works, most of the time it takes me 4,5,6 tries to get it to work.

2. When I clink on a link in my gmail to open a webpage, it pops up the browser like it should but then goes straight back to the email. I have to click it 4,5,6 times to get it to finally open the link. This is with all websites in email I click on.

Hopefully v4 will fix this.

I also posted this in the http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/70273-your-thoughts-2-1v3-leak-4.html

I updated this in the other thread, forgot to here....

Problem solved. After I initially installed v3 I have restarted the phone (power off). Did that and pinch zoom works they way it should, and the browser opens every time I click on a link in email.

Anybody having trouble with apps not appearing in the marketplace due to the unofficial nature of an Eris running 2.1? I have hesitated doing to upgrade because I am afraid that the android market will be missing tons of apps because of the eris+2.1=non-existent problem.

I am seeing pretty much all apps in the Android Market...the only issue I can report is that one purchased app is not showing in my downloads, and my guess is that it is not certified for 2.1.

yea same here im missing my two favorite games on there ( tower raiders and baseball 09 or something ) and neither one shown up afterwards but it should still be associated with my gmail account so if i was to upgrade they will be there just waiting for me right

A better choice would have been to have backed them up using MyBackUp Pro or something. I think they get backed up to the SD card so you can just install the apk again and be good to go.

I just recently installed the v3 leak over my v2 leak. Everything has been working fantastic compared to the v2 leak so far. By the way, does the screen resolution look better to anybody, or is it just me? My only problem is getting my yahoo mail account working. I had no problems getting it to work on 1.5 or 2.1 leak v2. Anybody else having this problem or have a fix?

Thanks Caddy! Just took the plunge. Had been lurking around but worried about some of the bugs in previous versions. That list you posted did it for me.

I figured if I brick it I'd get another one and try again. Phone works great and I didn't even need to buy a new one.

Dial *#*#4636#*#* but don't press "call" then a menu will pop up, choose battery info. Mine says my battery is good. You can also get this info from the HTC battery widget )y clicking on it, but that widget drains the battery.

MyBackup is a POS.

I would concur.

I used it to backup before upgrading to v3 and while it was somewhat convenient to reinstall my apps and restore call lists, etc., my contacts were all screwed up (as many as four for each) and the People app started crashing like crazy. Then after I reset to factory settings it wouldn't even read the backup files. I felt coerced to buy the "Pro" version, but gladly opted not to.

As you stated, I think the best way to backup is to simply keep your Google contacts up to date and save them to an exported file. Reinstalling apps isn't that big of a deal. I wish there was a backup tool that would remember ALL your personalized changes and work well with how the Eris manages contacts. I think I would pay for something like that which actually works!
