Root HTC Evo 4G - "E:Can't Find Update Script" - Help

Okay, so Captain has made a "special" PC36IMG? I can use his with S-On the same way that the others needs S-OFF? I just need a higher capacity SD Card?
 
Sorry for the confusion guys, and I appreciate your help. I am a bit ignorant of this subject. I will check back in, I will try this ADB method. Is there any problem with having a 2GB SD card using this method or do I still have to wait until the higher capacity card arrives?

i have not heard of any issues using this method so i can't say for sure. let us know if you do run into any issues.
 
Okay, in the command prompt, it says writing recovery and finished. So.... thats it? Reboot the phone and it should be on there?
 
I've selected recovery, and Im at an Android System recovery screen with a bunch of options like Reboot system now and USB-MS toggle, etc.... at the bottom it says build: RA-Supersonic-v2.3.... is there something im supposed to do on this screen?

congrats, you now have a custom recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!

now you can make nandroid backup, flash roms and kernels among other things.

now please read the guide. the second post has tons of info that is important to know including how to make a nandroid backup and how to flash a rom and kernel.

now i would make a nandroid backup while you are in recovery as well.

sorry.....aosp stands for android open source project. it is pure android. with all the different manufacturer's of android(htc, samsung, motorolla......and such) to differentiate one another they add a skin on top of the android os. for htc it is called sense, for samsung it is touchwiz, and so forth. i'm not necessarily the biggest fan of these skins. i like pure android and that is why i like deck's more then anything. aosp roms are small in size (200mb or so vs 400mb for sense) which can translate to better performance as well as better battery life......but aosp is not for everyone......so it is up to you.

but it is very easy to make a nandroid backup of your sense rom and then try an aosp rom. if you do not like it you can just nandroid restore back to your sense rom.

and yes mikg is the best for sense IMO.

lol i'm not in it for the money. i am just paying it forward as i like to say. i was like you once and i came to AF for help. so all i'm doing is what others in the past has done for me here. and i hope that others i help such as you carries on the tradition.

edit: maybe this will convince you to get a real phone instead of an iphony:eek::p:D
 
haha, well thats cool man. yeah I am a bit behind in the smartphone game. I got an Iphone and just stuck with it... messing around with these androids i can see they are in a whole different league when it comes to hacking and customization. I might get me one here soon. and yeah, I've got your tutorials saved in my bookmarks and these forums... I'll be around. Take it easy bro. Thanks again.
