no the .img file needs to bee in the root folder of your SD card in order for it to boot.

Worked like a charm. Coming from Samsung phones this took a lot of reading and re-reading to get it right especially the unlock bootloader but it can be done. Thank you!

Take a trip over to thus thread http://androidforums.com/evo-design-all-things-root/610779-apache-thunder-please-help-me.html and download the cwm recovery edited by jb rename PH44IMG.zip boot into bootloader and let it do its thing after u hit the power button for update rebbot into bootloader after deleting the file u just downloaded volume down for recovery then power again make sure u have a rom to flash already...if you're willing to convert the Rom then just do this instead I had a lot if problems b4 this came around and boy am I thankful for it

Ok, first of all, thanks to OP for the help. Just got my new EVO Design 4g on Boost. I got it rooted and flashed over everything well. The device recovered exceptionally well with the help of TitaniumBackup Pro.

However, I noticed that now my softkeys arent lighting properly. They seem to come on only when the device is booting, and when the lock screen is on.. Not sure what the problem is.

I wanted to check and see if anyone else had noticed the same problem?
 
Actually, that is something that is a reality on this phone. The creator of the ROM and kernel I have posted in this guide doesn't use the same device as us. Its a very, VERY, similar device, similar enough that there are only minor differences when it comes to using the same software on the devices. He has no way of testing whether or not the lights on the softkeys work, as on the Hero S (2fast4u88's device), he has buttons instead of softkeys.

I will look around, but I haven't yet noticed anybody asking this question before. You may come to learn that there is one thing that gets on his nerves above all else, and that is asking a question when the answer is already written somewhere, which is understandable. I am hitting the sack soon, but look for another post from me during the day.

hello i havent experienced this problem yet but if i were to i would start the recovery process over again wipe data\factory reset clear the caches which is standard and reflash the rom it should do the trick...i hope :o...but its true what savage said about 2fast hes a great dev but hes also under alot of pressure especially with the kingdom a.k.a design hes pretty much the only one working on anything involving this phone so when the answers to the questions that are asked are already out there he gets a lil uneasy almost as he sees it as a sign of laziness...and now that he was messing with h-boots tryna unlock s-off he sorta bricked his phone and is now awaiting arrival of a replacement...be patient and alert its out there


or maybe it could have something to do with the briness...im jus sayin
 
Speaking of 2fast and who to give credit to, just for reference, I'm going to list the main members of the 2fast team, aka Team Invictus. 2fast4u88 (of course), CookieFrog, Grad, and BMaae4. Not all of them will always know the answer to a question related to a 2fast ROM, as maybe not all of them contributed equally, but you can usually feel safe with an answer from any of them.

if you already flashed cwm just make sure its on the root of your sd card to avoid any confusion and make sure if you have multiple zips to choose the right one wipe all the necessary caches install zip from sd card once it says complete reboot system...make sure you have enough battery life seeing as i just softbricked a droid razr max and had to hardwire it to restore stock....

Who told you half of the above info as it isn't even right. The boost design, sprint design and heros is the same kingdom phone. Everything is the same. The phones are identical and so is the partitions one the phones. The heros is a rebranded design, even has the wimax partitions and keys. How ever uscc doesn't use wimax so no way to confirm the radio is there without tearing the phone apart.

The soft key issues or what ever is being talked about shouldn't be a issue on sense or the kernel I posted. I assume it is the aosp builds (Cm & Aosp) as there must be two screens for the kingdom. As they only support the amtel screen which is what I have.

I also don't have a problem with questions if posted here, I try to answer them. How ever when I get pm's how to root this or that. How to do this or that when the info is everywhere in this section. It annoys me to no end when I log in and have to go through 5-20pm's a day. If it was searched the answer would be there. Mainly how I see it several others here know the info about how to do what I'm asked daily in pm's. Where if the said person would make a thread, they would get the answer sooner then I could get back to them.

Then my pm box would be open for more serious questions.

Edit: I also got my new hero but have yet to unlock it. Got it this past Thursday, just busy with things. I'm also in the middle of ordering stuff to tune my swapped car for the track at the end of the month. Among constantly breaking stuff on it where last week I snapped the axle outside of town. Then on top of that I have been picking out stuff for a new pc build. Where I've been waiting to order/pick up the stuff due to cookie telling me he would help me out on a few key parts. Though he doesn't need to but don't want to order double the stuff.

Where when the new rig is done I will be able to crank out more builds quicker then my 2-4 hour build times. So on top of all that stuff I have classes twice a week with a butt load of homework for the classes.
 
Yeah, maybe I've just been misunderstanding you a bit. I have already realized that you're pretty busy, but wow that's a lot to handle at once.
But hey, your work is already pretty awesome and you've contributed a lot, so just take the time you need. You have enough on your hands that you probably deserve a break if you can get one.
I tried searching for something today, but I feel like searching on the forums is different that I'm used to. Also, I may have been searching for the wrong thing. But I sent you a message about an update. I tried to figure out if it was new, but I'm still trying to search for an answer to that.
 
I wasn't meaning you for say, I mean you got a guide here to root the kingdom. Yet I still was getting asked about rooting is what I really mean. When it is on the first page and the title is pretty clear there isn't much searching needed if you understand what I am getting at. I agree some info is hard to find though which is understandable.

As for the soft key issue or phones being different how you said. I would really like to know who said it as I only recall me saying something about it on my site. Where it was to do with the soft keys not working, how ever I didn't say that but along the lines of there being two touchscreens. If you read it by someone else or something it needs pointed out that it is wrong. As if it were true I would have more issues doing all the 3 different carrier phones.

Then I had someone go to the higher up guys about my posts of ignoring pms. Which I will explain a bit better here. Where I recall mentioning make a all in one thread. I meant make like a root issue thread or even the questions about dev work. That way the new people here could learn or possibly find a fix for there issue. Then us dev's or people could reply to the said post. Instead I get several pm's about it instead. Where if I help one person via pm, the info is kept private. I then get asked again by someone else and just keeps repeating. If the info was plubic it would cut down on a lot of the same pm's I receive.

How ever you have the root thread that really isn't getting much attention. Not sure why though, how ever this may help you/others out: Kingdom Utility_V1.2 (9/8/12)) This is part of the tool I said I had together, how ever being noob friendly I re-based it on the kingdom as a lot of options wouldn't have applied to it. So there would have been numerous posts saying something didn't work. Everything in the above should work besides the download part for recovery as it isn't on the server I don't believe. Though you can place a recovery.img into the folder.
 
Awesome. I haven't been around long enough to be bugged by it, but I have noticed that sometimes people really don't look. Not the worst thing to happen, but I can understand how that might really get on somebody's nerves. I do sometimes forget to check back on your forums. Having written a guide, its good to do so, cause it seems likely that eventually somebody will post an issue on one forum that won't yet come up on the other. That way I can keep an eye on anything I need to change in the guide.

I wouldn't want to clutter these forums if it really is very easy to use, but do you think there should be a thread here for your utility? The same people who might not research much probably won't know to look on your site. I know you've mentioned it in posts, but I don't know if people new to rooting really know about it. I'll probably add it to my guide though.
 
I know they won't know to look at my site. Hence why I posted it here, you can play with it and put it in your guide. Still want to see if I can get root on ics without unlocking. That way we can unlock without htc knowing as the unlock is a simple flag stored in a partition on the device. Then I want to add some returning to stock stuff to it.

The way I see it is no sense in making several other guides that do that same thing. How ever this should be stickied so it stays at the top :rolleyes:

Reported this thread so a mod or guide might sticky it. My home internet was wigging out last night so I didn't have a chance to download it yet.
 
So I followed the instructions of the guide, got it rooted and installed (rom and new kernel)

But I did not make a backup of the stock rom and was wondering if someone can provide me the voicemail notification APK for boost mobile?
