Help HTC Evo extended battery problem

I bought this extended battery (3500mAh) about 3 months ago and it worked great! I just recently restarted my phone and it seems to have gone back to how it started, it drops down quickly.

Do I drain, then full charge and repeat or...?

Yes, you've got it right, icameasadrian. Use it until it drops to very low percentage, lather-rinse-repeat. ;)

We've seen battery calibration techniques discussed here and there over the years, but the modern lithium-ion batteries in our devices now don't benefit much at all from anything except normal drainage and then recharging. It has more to do with the device's metering of the remaining charge than it does fast resource loss in most cases.

Exceptions have to do with changes the user makes in apps and widgets, most often. Auto sync of weather and social networking apps, etc, when manually syncing on demand is preferred for best battery life. :)

Of course, if you purchased an off-brand cheap-o, all bets are off. :D

hmmm is the one sold on amazon/ebay for around $7-$10 an off brand? my battery shows no sign of brand insignia whatsoever, yet it worked great when I used it.

It could be possible. Usually with a quality/brand name, there would be the brand name on it.
Do you have a link to the site where you bought the battery?
Personally, I have used Anker brand and I believe I bought an extended battery for my bosses old phone from Gorilla.

But as Frisco stated, have you changed some settings that affect battery life at all?

that one seems to be ok from what i can tell. not sure though. the ones i would be skeptical is the ones you find on ebay from china. those are the ones you do not want.

i have never used an extended battery on phones. i think that they look ugly and add more size and weight to the phone then i like.

have you tried rooting the phone? you can better battery life on a rooted phone vs a non rooted phone.....just throwing that out there.
