nice, I'm happy you're happy!
Like I said in another thread. You are alllllll lucky. It took me 8 hours to do the wire trick.
Luckily for me I was able to S-off pretty easily on my phone. First time S-off took maybe 5 minutes (from the time I open controlbear for the first time to the time it tells me I'm successfully S-off).Why is it that I keep having to RUU?
Have you made a nandroid backup yet? If you create a backup through 4ext, you can always restore it after a full wipe. This should keep you from having to run the ruu again.
The thing is, I tried to restore a backup before running the RUU. The backup did the same boot issue thing that it didn't have previously. What's up with that?
And now I'm so unfamiliar with this rom and it doesn't have Swipe2wake~ It'll take a bit of getting used to. I'm so scared of flashing another rom.
Don't be scared![]()
Now you know that you can just flash that rom again if you are stuck.
Go get the free recovery updater from 4ext.net
Install that apk on your phone. Then use the app to install recovery. It does all the work for you. Make sure to say YES when it asks if you are s-on, that will enable the smart flash feature you need.
I have a feeling you flashed a 4ext recovery.img through fastboot the first time so it wasn't set up properly. It probably didn't have smart flash enabled which is why 4ext still didn't work for you.
You know now that booting the recovery through fastboot will work. You will be fine. Install 4ext per above, and then you won't need fastboot to flash your roms anymore.
Just make sure you stick with stock roms that are compatible with your hboot until you get s-off.
Edit: Wait, are you s-off now? Was really tired when viewing this last night. I think you got s-off. If so, you should never have those problems unless you are flashing incompatible roms.
On hboot 1.50 and below you can flash nearly any rom. For Stock ICS roms, they require 1.57 and above.
I am S-OFF. And yesterday that booting issue was still occurring. And the roms were def. compatible. That's what frightens me.
So you are s-off now, and on hboot 1.57?? Didn't s-off install a custom hboot?
So just to be completely clear so we're on the same page, answer these two questions.
1.) What hboot are you on?
2.) What rom are you trying to flash?
Also please confirm s-off in the bootloader!
