Help Htc g2 problem

this is my first time posting here, and im at complete desperation.
my phone was lagging yesterday, so i turned it off to restart it, but when i turned it back on it went to the factory reset screen, where it says

hboot

<vol up> to previous item
<vol down> to next item
<power> to select item

fastboot
recovery
factory reset
simlock
image crc

now i know i should be able to use the volume buttons to toggle my options, except the volume buttons dont do anything, it wont highlight anything, and the power button doesnt even work in this mode.
when the phone is normally on, all of these buttons work fine.
i cant get past this screen

i would just call tmobile and have them send me a replacement phone but about two months ago i dropped the phone in a little water, but it worked fine after that up until yesterday, and just because there is water damage to the screen (very little) they wont do anything for me.

is there anything that i can do? i really dont want to buy a new phone, so if this can be fixed i would do a backflip

I bolded the problem...which generally there isnt a water undo fix. Have you tried pulling the battery? Tried selecting fastboot as it's the first option?
 
You are booting to Hboot. sounds like your vol rocker could be stuck down. To boot to Hboot you press down and power at the same time. it could be the water. Take it apart and remove the switch?
 
i have the htc g2 from tmobile.... i have no idea how to set a song that i sent to my phone and use it as a text message ringtone.. help!!!!!!!
 
Hi all I have the the tmobile g2 with google and its beginning to have a mind of its own...stops music when it wants. Scrolls through the app pages like its trying to select something...and when I type it moves the cursur on its own... please help....

download tone picker. its self explanitory from there

i have the same cursor problem. but to my surprise it does it every once in a while and has not done it since i updated to gingerbread
