HTC Gingerbread update.

Backing up everything is going to be a bloody nightmare. They seem to be insisting on it too unlike Froyo where they were quite bold in claiming there was no need to back up.

Are there any app that backs up everything? And i mean everything. All sync settings, facebook, twitter etc. contacts/email the whole lot. That would be perfect in fact since it will probably backup to the SD card and i won't even have to connect my phone to a PC

If you get root titanium backup will do everything, but so will several apps on the market I think!

Hmm looking around, it might have been pulled. No one from what I can see over at XDA has been able to update across europe... hmm

Update: From HTC taken from XDA

Thank you for contacting us,

In regards to the enquiry kindly be informed that the update has been suspended pending a little investigation , however it will be resumed on the 8th of this month , that is in few days to come.

Unbranded generic DHD on Vodafone never got the update yesterday before it was pulled.

Looks like we have to wait until the 8th now, and see if it comes through then.

Hi guys,

I have the unlocked HTC DHD branded to vodafone UK.. It just showed me that i have a system update available..

Has anyone installed the 2.36.161.12 GingerBread update yet????
Can anyone tell me how it is???
I do not want to rush into it and be disappointed like the last time when the update 2.2.1 update was released...

I'm not sure which is more frustrating, not knowing when it was actually going to be rolled out or knowing that it's rolling out but not when it's actually going to arrive on my phone!

And to make matters worse, I was getting frustrated with waiting for the update to arrive so decided to root my phone and install the leaked version yesterday then realised that the OTA version was rolling out so didn't even bother playing around with the leaked version and decided to flash back to the stock ROM.

And now I discover that they're postponing the roll out for a few days!

Oh well, back to the leaked version!

Interesting... it looks like the updates are back up across Europe, but with a R2 (release 2) on it. Don't know what the fix is or if there is a fix...

I am included in this statement but really the fact we are all so keen and so all about this update when in real terms besides a few tweaks our UI won't change much and our phone won't now become magic item with a genie inside that grants 3 wishes, says that we haven't got anything more meaningfully important going on in our lives lol I need to get out more...

Several people from Bulgaria have confirmed! Some of them are updating at the moment. *feels like an outsider*

WHAT!!! Branded phones are releasing but still nothing for us non-branded... Thats just fooking criminal!!!!

With regard to the backup tool .. the titanium backup says can only be used on rooted phones. What other application would people suggest to use, to do a complete backup

That's annoying!! Half the reason I debranded was to get the update quicker..... Shoulda stayed with the Voda branding it seems

Simply ensure you do this: [TOOL][VIDEO] One click Radio S-OFF, SimUnlock (Easy Root & S-OFF Guide) - xda-developers to gain permanent s off so that you can use Gingerbreak here: [26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread) - xda-developers then restore using Titanium Backup again.

Well I was updated yesterday (Vodaphone UK Unbranded) a very smooth update with no issues.
First impressions - Battery life is much better, it also has a nice graphical display of the battery, and shows some key users.
Apps are now on pages so when you scroll through it locks to a page at a time, and there are new tabs for Favourites (most used), and downloaded.
There is a new app called Downloads that shows all you files you have downloaded and allow you to manage them.

Nothing else jumps out at me.
