htc hero (orange network)

Hi all. Just got my new hero and have spent days trying to sort the following problems.
When I try and link my email to the mail facility it asks for a username, my email is an fsmail.net and I have had it for at least 15 years and have no idea where to start looking for the name. any thoughts anyone?
When I try to open my mail via the browser as soon as I try to open an email I get logged off and told that I need to get the browser to accept cookies, I have called technical support at orange and have got no where.
any information would be gladly accepted(by the way my phone is much smarter than me so plain english instructions are always good!)

your username should be your email address.

open your browser, press menu > click More > click settings > near the bottom tick "accept cookies".

The phone is pretty easy to get to hands with, if its your first smartphone it may take a while to get used to it, but dont worry
