HTC Incredible inside Gym's Sauna?

If she absolutely has to bring her DInc into a sauna because she is a phone addict and can't be separated from her tech candy, I would suggest putting it in a bag of rice right after wards to absorb moisture. Easier to just leave it in the gym locker.
And what kind of gym allows her to do that anyways? My gym prohibits phones in the sauna and steam room...to cut down on noise and people snapping pics/video.

mmm... but if she took the bag of rice in sauna with her she could cook lunch , multitask FTW.

I would definitely tell her not to do that... I live in Arizona and the heat alone is bad enough for my phones. I have read manuals on phones before and there was a temperature point for them that is considered damaging. Call me crazy but I think it was 105F.

The max temp is definitely >105F. For gods sake, the battery alone can heat up to >105F. An Az summer gets to >115F. People still have working cell phones there.

As for a sauna, it is NOT a steam room. Yes its hot, but it is dry. Not saying I would do that, but I don't really see why it will definitely cause problems.

No offense to your GF, but "I see other people do it" is one of the most ridiculous things people say. I am going to have to channel my father with my reply and say "if all your friends were jumping off a bridge, would you do it too?"

When I was younger and "old" people (you know, 30+) would say that, I would replay "Yes if they made it" I'm surprised I made it to 40.

I believe I know this I live in Az...

And im positive there is a heat warning because I have read it before. Saying I think is definitely not 110 percent i know its around there though.

The original phone I read warning on for heat was my Blackberrys. I haven't seen any for Droids yet, but I am POSITIVE peoples phones have been ruined by heat.

I disagree with the people who think that heat is not bad for your phone.

The worst thing for a battery is heat. When you bring it to a Sauna temperature + usage temp > Sauna temp - you are going to quickly see your battery get worse and worse.

You are probably cutting it's life at least in half, depending on how many times you bring it into the sauna of course.

Agree. Every sauna I have been in had a huge danger sign that said I should not stay in longer than a certain amount of time (like 20 minutes)...and a human being is more hearty than a small little phone

Just clarify, i have seen saunas's refereed to as wet and dry saunas, so its a little off to say that they are all dry..

Either way its probably ok for the most part to take it in there. But she should not be surprised if it does break one day because of it.

Exactly! People very commonly use the term sauna for everything, including steam rooms. Hell, I have seen gyms that have steam rooms with a sign calling it a sauna. My gym actually has a warning sign and one of the bullets is "may damage electronic devices".

They make waterproof cases that will still allow her to use her phone. With just a quick 2 minute search I found several for anywhere from $10 all the way up to $50. Here's some of the cheaper ones.

HTC Droid Incredible Cell Phone Waterproof Case

Aquapac Handheld CAse for Verizon HTC Droid

Overboard Waterproof Case

At the end of the day I would still recommend that she just leave it in her locker. But if she really wants to keep it with her (assuming she listens to music or watch's video's in there) then she should at least protect it.

lol, I love how it's just a big rubber bag with an old basic cell phone inside =P

LOL! Yea, it's not the most attractive thing. But its cheap and I am sure it works just fine.

She could just keep it in her gym bag for use while in the sauna.

I seem to remember you 've been married 30 of those years, so that means you can only say "women" when she allows you to say "women".

31 years, btw. DO YOU THINK I SAY THAT IN FRONT OF HER??? geez, you must think I have a deathwish or somphin'. :p ;)

LOL. Whenever my fiance says something like that thinking I am not around to hear I get "Well except for you, of course! I love you baby!".

Hahah, he's so cute. It's been 9 years but I have him trained well :D

How would you use it? I could see that thing being good for a boat or something (I see that it has an inflatable ring so it can float) but you can't use a phone inside something like that. Unless I am completely missing something...

With that particular one I don't think you would be able to use the phone with it. It's just to protect it.

The Aquapec one I posted will let you access some functionality though. I wouldn't try playing games with it or anything, but you could text and watch video's.

Good luck with the training thing. We boys do grow up eventually and become old crotchety men. ;)

(note to self: Steven58, please stay on topic or I'll request I have myself banned. Thank you...uh.. thank me.) ;)
