Help HTC Incredible Pictures GONE!

Mamidedos

Hi there!
My HTC Incredible just lost all of it's pictures. How do I recover them? I do not have a rooted (if this is what it is called) phone. I don't even know how and where the pictures were saved. Where they on SD card? I don't know. Where they stored on phone's storage? I don't know.

Any ideas!?!?!

Please help!

You can find out where they were being stored by opening your camera app, go into its settings and see if it's saving them to internal storage or SD card. Then you can use a file explorer app or better yet just hook up your Inc to the PC in disk drive mode and 2 drives should come up on the PC...one that is the contents of internal storage and one that is the SD card.

If checking internal, go to data/media/DCIM/100media or if SD card, browse to sdcard/DCIM/100media and see if any of your pics are there. Maybe they're just not showing up in the gallery app for some reason who knows. Also, those paths I just listed might be a tad off. I just looked at my phone which is slightly different in addition to trying to remember the path from back when I ran the Inc. I think that'll get you close enough, you can figure it out by pecking around a little.

If they are gone and were on the internal storage, you're pretty much out of luck IMO. I guess you could try to scan the internal storage or the sd card with software designed to retrieve deleted pics (run from your PC) but I'm thinking the odds are kinda low. Could be worth a shot though as a last ditch effort.

My wife had this problem on her phone. What happened is her camera got reset to internal storage from the SDcard and for some reason the gallery program stopped reading the phone storage file. Some of the file manager scanners also wont find the jpg files on internal phone storage. So try this.

1. Check the location of storage for the camera setting like iowabowtech said. Change it to the sdcard.
2. Now take a picture and go in and verify where it put it. - somewhere in sdcard/dcim/100media or something like that.
3. Now change the camera back to internal phone storage and take a picture.
4. Open your gallery to see if it showed up in the galery. If it did, hit menu for that picture and look at the details. You are looking for the path. For example my wifes path was different than what iowabowtech said. It was something like emmc/XXXXXX/XXXXX. - sorry cant be more specifc as I dont have her phone here in front of me.
5. Now - use Astro file manager or any other app to locate this folder and see if your pictures are still in there. For my wife they were. I then copied all 340 of them plus 10 videos from internal storage to the sdcard inside of the 100media folder.
6. Releaunch your gallery and boom, they should start showing up.
7. Now dont forget to pull that card out and backup every photo you have just in case.

You should also be able to do this if you hook your phone up to a computer, but if you dont have the cable you should be able to do what i said above to get them back.

I hope that works for you.
