HTC Incredible VS. Droid X

How about the AT&T Captivat... from what i just read it just smoked the X in just about every benchmark test ..

Maybe for graphics but speed the X smoked the galaxy S which is the captivate. The processor in the gs is better for graphics which has been discussed in a few threads

Link please.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

^Just look at any Quadrant screenshot. The X is the Shadow, or check a recent video of someone running Quadrant on the X.

Some ppl complained that Quadrant tested the gpu more. That cant be cuz if it did the Galaxy S woulda beat the X. The only differences between the 2 processors is:

The OMAP cpu vs. the Hummingbird cpu

The Galaxy has the PowerVR 540 gpu vs. the X has the PowerVR 530 gpu.

Seeing as how the gpu in the Galaxy is better, the cpu in the X has to be better.

I think I am gonna jump the ship and turn my droid incredible in for a droid x.

Update: naah nevermind.. I love my drinc. I can't part with it. :). The x seems too big and the bump on the back doesn't look too good.

oh what should i do? I am so torn!

haha i hear ya, i activated/received my Dinc on the 17th of june, so i basically would have to walk into verizon and play with the X, and if i really wanted i'd be able to make the switch. I don't like being tempted, but i'm pretty sure i'm staying with the Dinc, X does not seem to offer any extra features that would justify the switch.

I have been researching what Verizon phone to get, as I am about to jump from T-Mobile, and after two weeks of research, I finally decide on the Droid Incredible and every Verizon store has given me the same response:

"We don't have any Incredibles in the store, they are back-ordered and Verizon is phasing them out since the Droid X is coming out the 15th of July".

Why would Verizon do this with a 2 month old phone?

Because they want their commission now. Either the Verizon sales rep is clueless or he/she is straight out lying to you since the Incredible is NOT being discountinued, plenty of threads on that..google it.

^Yea I hope she didnt say that.....I can understand interweb folks saying that , but not an Verizon employee.

I thought i had decided to stick with the Inc (havent got it tho), but i have read a few reports that the Inc has signal problems and the X has better signal.... this is kinda a big deal to me as i will be using it hunting alot and will be in remote spots....

Anyone have any major issues with the Inc's signal?? As long as it is equal to or better than my current curve, ill be fine

Droid Incredible signal issues are largely misunderstood. You will notice that most people that complain about signal issues mention the low number of bars, they don't complain about losing data or voice connection or having actual problems usually. There is a reason for this.

The way the antenna in the device works, it increases or decreases the power to the antenna depending on the signal strength available. The device does not make an attempt to get as many bars as possible by maxing out power to the antenna because that will waste battery. It merely attempts to hold onto a stable signal and that is what you get usually. The only time you should see 3-4 bars is if the signal is so strong nearby that the phone gets that level of reception even with minimum power going to the antenna. Make no mistake, having 1-2 bars does not mean you're borderline to losing connection. If the signal was to weaken, the device would output more power to maintain that status quo.

Bottom line: ignore the bars and use the phone and you won't have problems.

Unless u live or work in a bad reception area, you wont really know if your phone has a good or strong antenna compared to another phone.

For real, I would debate the Droid having a better antenna than the Inc. Since I never used an Inc, I can only go by what ppl post.

Most ppl live or work in a good coverage area so they wouldnt even know about their actual signal strength.

I've had my heart set on an Inc since deciding to (finally) upgrade my 2 phones (me + wife) a couple of months ago. We had to wait for work approval so I didn't jump on pre-ordering. Then all the availability issues after launch and now talk of screen changes, more delays, and the announcement of the X has me all confused to the point I haven't pulled the trigger.

While I want and Incredible, here is why I'm starting to lean toward an X.
- I may be able to get an X before an Inc, maybe even in a store.
- The X's larger screen.
- The X may have better reception (supposedly)
- The X has a better hardware graphic acceleration (supposedly)
- The X has better keyboards (out of the box at least)
- The X has better call clarity (3 mics) (will it matter?)
- The X has better battery life (supposedly)
- The chance I'll can some lesser Inc with an LCD screen.

I just can't get over how ugly the X is (those buttons?! That camera bump?!). Is it too big? How is that bump going to work in my pocket? I want a large screen Archos 5-like device to watch movies/TV on my commute but I'm not sure I want my phone to fill that role. Is it worth lugging that thing about ALL THE TIME. Also, I'll miss not having the optical mouse pad and Sense.

Anyway, that's where I'm at.

You act as if the X is a 10 pound brick. Please..............

since when do guys get all sensitive about something they have being called huge??? lol

check out the review from the nytimes

The most notable physical characteristic, though, is the Droid X’s size. It’s absolutely huge (5 by 2.6 by 0.4 inches). It’s easily the biggest app phone on the market. You feel as if you’re talking into a frozen waffle.

....

Who’s right? Do you want a big phone, so you can have a roomy screen? Or a small one that doesn’t feel like a VHS cassette in your pocket? Both arguments carry weight; let the public decide.
lol

Yeah no thanks. I like being a man, and having a normal baby batter count. My meat and two veg like to have room.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

Ah misconception. But hey, each unto their own. Its not as if I am intending to impregnate multiple women in this stage of life

Didn't see if anyone had this posted but the Engadget review of the X had this to say about it " . . . it's not a must-have phone -- especially in light of the Droid Incredible and the upcoming Droid 2". Interesting.

These appear to be basically the same phone. The x just bigger, and oh wait appears to be able to get all the accessories you know and love (desktop cradle and car). If you go to the seidio website they just removed any thought of a cradle. Verizon or HTC is taking a while on accessories as well. I also just bought the 2150 for the incredible which was a must have for the phone.
I love the phone but given my job, that car cradle was something I was looking forward to and having the phone work correctly in it. It appears that the incredible will go to my son..
