HTC Incredible VS. Droid X

Did they delete the 2nd tweet? I saw it when they first put it up and now it's not showing up. Just making sure the problem is on my end and they didn't delete it

Yep, it's been deleted. I think that's confirmation that the person who put it up isn't quite 100% sure or wasn't supposed to release it. One or the other. hahaha.

Droid-Life just "confirmed" that it'll have a snapdragon processor from their reliable source. Not awesome if it turns out to be true, but there is still something in the X that makes it benchmark so high. But then again that could be wrong also. Why even talk about phones before they get released lol

Cause its fun and its helping me burn time at work :D. Admittedly, it does cause a lot of hysteria though... such as people already wanting to scrap their phones for the X.. which is fine.. but they're also spreading misinformation about the Incred just to help "justify" their decision.. I think thats the most annoying biproduct of these kinds of discussions. Otherwise its fun to see how fast this tech moves.

Breaking: Droid 2 and Droid X will Both Have 1.0GHz Snapdragon Processors | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Is it just me or does the Droid 2 look terrible? I mean, that keyboard is incredibly ugly. Reminds me of the translation dictionary I had back in 1995. I guess it's hard to make an attractive physical keyboard that's still functional....

Neither have a keyboard. I'd agree that many of those points are subjective and I made some assumptions based on the available information and my own opinion. In regards to screen size, I think it's pretty definitive that people prefer viewing things on a larger screen when when we're talking smaller than 5". However, the big screen certainly comes with drawbacks like handling it, making the overall size of the phone larger, and perhaps quality. That's why I tried to include pocketability and screen quality to account for those factors. And, yeah, I'd agree we don't really know until it comes out and people have tested it. That's for sure. I think most of the differences are negligible so it really comes down to what people seek the most in their phone.

You are correct. The Droid X will NOT have a physical keyboard. The Droid 2, supposedly being released in August, will essentially be an updated Droid and have a pullout keyboard.

Whoops! My bad. I got 'em mixed. So the Droid X is like the hybrid child of an EVO and the Droid.

Eh, I'll keep what I have.

Yeah not enough of a diffrence to justify a switch to the DX. And I'm shocked the D2 doesn't have what I thought it would, I fiqured it would have a HDMI and Same camera as the DX.

Ughh, it's too much to follow. Sticking with my DI and wishing I didn't know about new phone releases lol

Well that's the thing. Find a phone you like and just enjoy your phone! Besides, c'mon. What's this phone or that one going to have that's so world-changing that you need to change over?

NEWS ALERT...no OMAP for Droid X...it comes with a Snapdragon like the Incredible.

Source form Verizon themselves. DroidLanding (DroidLanding) on Twitter

That is their twitter page for the Droid X I know its real because its in the Droid X commercial subliminally.
Not so secret Droid X Twitter page found | Android Central

Dealbreaker?

This was updated, it was a blunder made by a Verizon employee.

Now some facts.

Processor, the 1ghz OMAP is faster than the 1ghz snapdragon
Screen is bigger and as in the Droid you'll be able to see it on direct sunlight not like the Amoled.
Battery is a 1530mah.
Supposedly it will have Froyo 2.2 by the time of release (I hope so)

Things I don't like is Blur, even though I heard it's much better than the first installment.
Also today a report came out that it'll have a lot of apps pre installed.

source for your facts?

Comparing these phones is kind of pointless. I mean anything that comes out now will be slightly better. I am excited to see the even better phones when my contract is up.... its nice to oggle at the new phones but be happy with your purchase I am confident you will be satisfied with the phone until its time to upgrade to something better than all these currently coming out.

For me, the primary quality I look for in a smartphone is what I'll call its features-to-size ratio. That is to say, one of the things I like most about the Incredible is:

incredible has a higher ppi than the X. I like ppi....

Sure, the DX, EVO, etc... may have a few more bells and whistles in certain areas, but when it comes down to a device I have to carry around all the time, I like it as feature-dense as possible.

They seem so alike, if it ships with 2.2... and gets good reviews then I don't know although I am content with my INC, it just sucks that its not getting plubicity and thats sad.

Facts? lol.....Well, we now know this was wrong about the omap. I very much doubt it ships with Froyo too.

speed isn't a factor past 1ghz. There's diminishing returns unless you only use the phone when in range of a good wifi.

Screen size is also something of diminishing returns. I'd like a 4.3 16:9 screen, but not when there's so much wasted space above and below it.

Hopefully by the time my contract is up a perfect phone will be available. No hump on the back, no wasted space, 4.3 screen, visible in direct sunlight (how cool would an e-ink switch be?), fast, lots of ram, front facing camera, etc. But it doesn't exist right now, nor is it on the horizon.

Any kind of comment like "speed isn't a factor beyond X speed" will always be wrong. Apps and games will never stop getting more and more advanced with time. A faster processor means your device can handle more advanced tasks with minimal slowdown. There will be a time when the Droid Incredible will run new games really slowly while a faster phone will have no problem at all.

Only reason to upgrade IMHO would be for the bigger screen and faster CPU, but that screen is LCD (BLAH). I also think sense UI is far better than motoblur. I don't plan to upgrade to the X. I will wait for something to hit verizon with that new super sexy 4" Super AMOLED that's on the Galaxy S. I think it will be the perfect compromise between the 3.7 and the 4.3" screens and you wont have to give up AMOLED to get more screen space. Plus its Super!

Agreeded this is what I'm hoping for. I could care less about sense or blur as I don't like either . I like vanilla or even better LP . I finally plaed with an EVO and while it wasn't too big for one hand operation it wasn't very comfortable , and the MotoX is slightly bigger then the EVO. I'm hopin gfor a 4in screen , HDMI , 720recording and the rest of the specs equal or better to the Incredible. Also a slightly tougher body would be nice also.

ohh and no new phone till LTE for this guy haha

I would think that Motorola is a bigger company than HTC and thus has more resources (and influence) for coordinating publicity of its products. I could be wrong.

I dont' see how the Droid X is substantially better than the DI.

I will upgrade when:

4" Super AMOLED - I don't see how the iPhone 4's screen can compete with this tech, beyond just resolution

LTE
VERIFIED awesome battery life
Minimum of 8 GB (preferably 16 GB) internal storage.

Until then, I just need to find a case for my extended battery...

I am usually the first in line to say not to wait for that next super gadget on the horizon. "Buy the best you can now, because there's always something better coming."

That being said, this looks like it's going to be an awesome phone. Droid Inc owners got what? A little over two months being the "biggest and best" in the VZW lineup? That kind of sucks. I still love my Inc, but I really expected to have more than two months before I was envious of another phone on VZW.

Depending on how well the resale value holds up for the Incredible, I may sell it and get the Droid 2 when it launches for one reason only: physical keyboard. I personally can't stand a touchscreen for all nearly all interaction with the phone. And I really want it to be able to competently play games (action games on NESoid/SNESoid come to mind).

I don't envy this phone at all. It's still a Motorola. =)

I dont understand it. We have 8gb internal memory and a 1ghz processor. I have minimal problems if any with my incredible and its the perfect size. Why upgrade again? Every moto I've had has been garbage. I'm happy with my phone.
